Default Advice on Discs and Pads Please!!!

The car went in for a service today and the guy said that its no major problem at the moment but im going to need new discs all round, the rear more than the front ones. So what better excuse than to upgrade the discs and pads thing is im not really too sure what im looking for. I own a MY01 Classic Turbo2000 awd if people could give me some ideas of what im lookin for that would be great. I get confused with the different size's and wether to go for drilled, grooved, vented or a mixture of them right my head is hurting now.

Melon.

I've just bought new front discs and pads and went went for some non-brand 8-groove discs from AS Performance (online), at £135/pair. They used to be manufactured for Pagid but now Pagid source their discs from elsewhere, however when they were Pagid branded they were over £200/pair.

I also went for fast-road Pagid 421 'black compound' pads at £130/set.

Pagid 'blues' are better again in terms of friction, (and the same price), however the blacks are slightly more durable and therefore last longer and are better suited to everyday driving.

I considered the Ferodo DS2500's (same price as the Pagid's) and apparently there is little difference in terms of performance. However Alyn at AS Performance said his personal preference was the Pagid pad and ACE Motorsport also fit Pagid's as their preference.

I can't give you any advice on the increased braking performance yet because they were only fitted at 10am today and I'm giving them some time to bed in.

Hope this helps.

Black diamond do some nice stuff, which works well. Have a look on ebay, I keep seeing sets of discs and pads go for £150-200. I used to use the pads with Red Dot 6 grooved disc on my My99 and had no problems.

You can either have a look on ebay or try Cheap Tyres & Jap Car Parts Spares Online UK ::

From talking to Andy at ACE motorsport, groved and drilled disc's are just a gimic, Brake Engineering disc's are supposed to be very good. As for pads best to get either Ferrodo DS2500 or Padig Blue's/Black's.
Avoid EBC they are rubbish IMHO.

Your car will be an My00, even though it was registered in 2001,

You'll need 294/5mm for the fronts and I think 266mm Vented for the rear
