Lightbulb Tesco99 v V-Power

I've been running my car on Tesco99 for a good few months now, since it was mapped on it after my decat was fitted.

Since the remap I've always had a slight murmer in the acceleration at around 3500rpm's, especially noticable in higher gears.

After the recent mid-wales run I reset the ecu and put V-Power in for a while. The acceleration murmer went away completely and the power delivery was much smoother generally and the car was more responsive to acceleration.

I've now changed back to Tesco99 (much more convenient for me), reset the ecu and the murmer is back and the car seems much more sluggish.

Without doubt V-Power makes my car quicker, more responsive and generally better to drive. It's just a shame the only two Shell garages 'near' me are McArthur Glen (a bit of a trek round trip) and Pentwyn, Cardiff (also a trek....oh and probably the most expensive fuel in the world ).

I agree Rich. Been running mine on Tescos for a long time now and occasionally switch to Shell and it feels much better. Odd term but meatier.

And yup Pentwyn is sooo expensive. 40.6 litres = £40. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask when he was robbing you.

Theres not a sniff of Tescos 99 up this way. Brand new Tescos store and they stick 97 ron in there!!!! We've got loads of shell stations though. not matter which direction I want to go theres always a shell.

I've always run mine on shell with maybe no more than 10 tank fulls of other in 4 years of ownership, normally Esso SUL, Tried BP once and never again . Tried Tescos 99 once also, no problem with this.

And the plus points are building quite nicely

V Power, like Optimax, is designed from the ground up as a performance fuel. Tesco 99 stuff is just normal Tesco petrol with bio-ethanol additives to make the required RON grade.

I would never consider using anything other than V Power. I even go out of my way to fill up on it.

I just wish there were more Shell garages near Bridgend. As Dean said, Tesco is just so convenient it's too much hassle to drive 1/2 round trip just to fill up the tank...

I always use Tesco, Pengam Green Cardiff, maybe on pay day I'll try the shell in Pentwyn, Ive only got 1/4 of a tank left so by Tuesday that will be just over the red, I havent had any problems with Tesco car seems to run fine, apart from the recent "She wont start" which has got me thinking I did run her very low, maybe some crap in the tank got into my fuel pump and she didnt like it? Just a thought.
