Default Turbo advice

As most of you know, i'm nearing the end of my rebuild. I've had to put the turbo on hold till February time due to lack of funds.....

I was leaning towards a Andy Forrest TD05 20g and an Apexi Powe FC + commander......

Is there something better ???

Also, i'm trying to tart the engine bay up but not having much luck sourcing parts.... Can anybody recommend some tarty parts ??
I want the alternator cover, battery cover, fuse box etc etc
A mate of mine has offered to make some parts for me in his works but i've no idea how long he's going to take as he is off to Thailand in January so i might be forced to buy them

Spec list so far:
ACL Pistons
H section Rods
STi V8 X-Drilled Crank
ARP Head studs
AP Organic Clutch
550cc Injectors
Walbro Fuel pump
Fuel Lab Regulator
Goodridge Braided Hoses
RCM Pulley Set
Hose Set
Front Mount Intercooler
Induction Kit
Goodridge Braided Hoses
RCM Modified Oil pump
My shiney water pipe

Planned:
Oil Cooler
Sandwich Plate
Turbo
Apexi Power FC + Commander

I think thats it...... Unless someone can think of something i've missed

It all depends on your final power figure. And correct me if I'm wrong but your lump is a 2.5 isn't it? And from reading other post TD05-20g might lose its top end power on a 2.5.

TD05 20g turbo is good for 400 BHP and works well on a 2.5L due to the larger displacement, full boost is achieved from 3000 rpm onwards. But on a 2L full boost is much later at 4500 rpm so depending on what power your after the TD05 20g is slighly laggy on a 2L. A twin scroll turbo would be a better option such as a VF35/6 as good for 370 bhp but will a loads less lag so creating a better road car.

A lot of people do use the TD05 20G on a 2L but i think the biggest turbo i would use on a 2L would be the TD05 18G (for a road car) because of the lag factor. An 18G should be good for between 360-380bhp
As bluerigster said a jap twinscroll conversion is an option worth considering,
japperformanceparts.co.uk do the complete kit for £1000 (headers, uppipe, downpipe and VF37 turbo) this should also see around the 360bhp mark with very quick spool up.

Looks like i'll be going for Lateral Performances MD321H or the MD321T

Should take the car up to a healthy BHP figure..... And if its anywhere near what i've been quoted, i'll be a very very happy man.
I've seen the print out, comparing a P1 with my engine spec running a VF28 and then a MD321H. The car was mapped by Bob Rawle.

324bhp/315ft lbs on the 1st remap
411bhp/375ft lbs on the 2nd remap
Running V power fuel

Just waiting for some feedback now before i order....

Has anyone here used Bob Rawle ???

Yes gotta agree with Kev, Bob along with Andy F are probably the most respected mappers in the UK.
Don't think Bob R does map Apexi ECU's, but then why bother with an Apexi on a P1 anyway when he can do a Tek3 remap of the standard ECU???

Well i'm sold !
I'm going for the MD321H and a Bob Rawle Mapping session

I need a 3port boost solenoid now..... Has anyone used the APEXI AVC-R ?

I'll need to confirm with Bob that this is suitable but a few of the lads on P1WOC have suggested it....

Right, all i need now are the tarty bits for the engine bay and some stopping power for the front end..

TurboDean - Bob has got back to me about the Apexi and in his own words -"Saw you posting about the AVC-R, no problem to me I used one for nearly two years"

Now to decide what colour to have.... the silver unit or the black unit
