Default newbie member looking for a bit of advice

Hi All

New guy here and looking for a bit of advice and big brakes suggested reposting a message here rather than on the general forum

Basically ive been driving a MY00 Sport saloon for last year or so (My first Scoob) unfortunately temptation has set in and ive seen a 01 WRX saloon, WR Blue in a local scoob dealership in great nick and only 35k on the clock with a full subaru service history with that same dealer. Was just wondering whats the sort of things i should look for considering this sort of car and what questions should i aim at the sales man Finally what sort of differences in the running of a WRX should i expect.

Cheers for any help guys

Post up details about where its for sale and the price etc... and we'll see if anyone knows of it.

One thing though - if its on sale at CVC in Cardiff it'll be hugely overpriced - the bugeye value has really taken a hit because they are generally the least desirable of the Imprezas, so you can pick them up pretty cheap.

Welcome to the forum, do the usual checks, service history etc it should be ok coming from a main dealer but make sure you give it a good check over so your happy.
What to expect? A lot more go and an empty wallet welcome aboard

Nothing wrong with the bugeye but there is plenty of choice around so take your time to find the right one. happy hunting and hope to see you thurs.

main dealers will over price their cars but you get more peice of mind as a result - just bw aware the cambelt would need to be changed before long and it's an expensive job if you want to keep the main dealer history going.

I would also say the PPP is a must as a minimum - i had a wrx with PPP previously - you maybe be suprised by what will keep up with/ pass you without it

Best to pop along Thursday where you will get loads on contrdicting advice that will pickle your head!

Bought my Bugeye last May at CVC. It came with PPF 7's, UK 300 Spoiler, Prodrive Lights and WR Sport Backbox, Tracker and 28k and it was up for £11995. I got the warranty and history etc. It was probably too much, but I bought it

The one in Keith Price seems a bit much. As said already they should be cheaper and are on a private sale. It's up to you want you want and we will only make your head spin

There's a WR Blue Wagon with leather etc in CVC for £10995.

See you Thursday

Here's mine

Cheers for the advice guys ill hover round with more questions no doubt on Thursday if no one minds know what you mean bout the cambelt service on the preza's as i paid £500 to have it done on the Sport with a change of the hydralic adjusters. One thing bout the WRX is that even on 36k miles its already had its 45k service for cambelt, is it possible to overservice these cars or is the previous owner keeping it in good nick? It does lack a PPP Kit tho

Nice scoob Dragon, silver and black always looks smart will keep an eye out for it on thursday.

cheers again

Maybe the cambelt service was done on age instead of milage ?

What seats are in it because some of the early one's did not have the bucket seats... they were an extra back then. It's worth getting one with the firmer seats in in my book they are a must.

I've gone from a Sport To a Turbo and to be honest yes it does cost more in fuel but not that much and you don't have to drive a turbo flat out all the time

It will be good if you can make it on Thursday as you will be able to see what's available altogether and you can then have a picture of what exhactly you want in your mind.

Cheers S.S.S.

I noticed that the interior in the X reg WRX wasnt much different to my X reg Sport classic and when i mentioned it to the sales man he said that it was an early car and didnt come with the recaro wing bucket seats. Im starting to think that its a bit highly priced especially with everyones advice as with the help of auto trader im finding X/Y/01 plate wrx's with service histories and 45-50k millages for 8-8.5k price tags and from what you can see they are just as nice

so shall i just look for the mass of scoobies off junction 30 on thursday and just pop in and say hi to people around?

cheers

Ian

Be aware , main dealer price is high and you will find as good private with a grand or more saving that being said you do get a half decent warranty. See you Thursday

There's a nice looking wrx v8 in Nathaniels in Bridgend, on the big roundabout opposite B+Q (Waterton ??) priced at about 12K I think. In WR blue, i went past pretty quick..... to avert temptation

cheers for the suggestions

Think for the sake of my wallet, insurance, bank manager and license i may well stay away from a STI. Must admit i like the idea of WRX with all the PPP gear tho especially seeing bug eye models goin for 9k especially if your willing to travel a little to see the car.
