Default STI RA

Well guys I miss my STI RA that much I could actually be buying it back from the guy I sold it to.

If anyone wants to buy a RB5 then give me a call.

I found out that the guy I sold this to is being made redundant in the new year and he won't be able to afford to run this when that happens.

So I've sent him a mail saying that I'm very interested in purchasing this back from him and then I can get this modified hopefully with a six speed box with the money I have left over plus a remap with a Apexi system.

So if all goes well by the new year I'm hoping to have this back.

What the hell is going on?

First Phil sells his sport and buys a WRX, then sells his WRX and buys a Skoda, then sells the Skoda and buys a Uk turbo.

Then I read this. Matt sold his RA to buy a skoda, sold the skoda and bought an RB5, Now his thinking of selling the RB5 and buying his RA back, What the world coming too?

I understand where your coming from. Theres a hell of differance between a uk car and an RA. Power to start off with, plus gearing.

There's also quite a few nice Type R V5 for a under £10K at the moment!!!!!!!

Don't mean to butt in a little but I wouldn't be too quick to sell an RB5. I would be very surprised if they didn't start going up in value over the next few years.

Is an older STI RA that much different?

Serious question now, I need to know if its worth modding my UK car anymore or just save for an STI.

Having the STI RA is a hell of difference between UK and Jap cars.

As nice as the RB5 is, it has no hold over a STI RA.

The advantages of the RA is :

Better engine
More power
Stiffer suspension
More refined I think
And my old car looks alot nicer to myself.

Disadvantages of the RA -

Gearbox has a high ratio or low ratio, one of them. Screams at 80mph.
Has to run on super duper fuel unless remapped.

The RB5 advantages is

that the car will hold the value alot better
Easier for buying parts
Better for motorway driving

Disadvantages -

Weak engine
Weak gearbox if it has to much power
interior seating nice but doesn't grip onto you like japs.
Rust easier.

I would love to have both but money won't allow me.

The guy has done some work to the car by getting the scratchs sorted, some minor material replacements for the boot, floor mats, battery and new tyres and he's only done 400 - 500 miles since he brought it of me.

I would love to have my old car as it would scare the sh*t out of you when you used some welly, but where the RB5 seems to drive like miss daisy style.

I probably should think about value wise of the car but to me whats the point of having a car if you don't have the thrill from it.

I don't know I've got till after xmas to decide anyway.

It does basically, the car needs to hold the value by not modding it to much but just looking at fleabay the guy has the car forsale on there and it has already reached £6k with 3 days remaining and I aint paying more for the car than what I sold it to him.

I'll just have to wait to see what else comes along, Never mind.

On the older versions, yes its quite bad. 80mph it does about 4-4500rpm but on the new verions like the Type R and RA's I think I'm right in saying it does about 4k rpm.

Matt, it sounds like to me that what you realy want is a type R, your not going to rest until you get one so you just as well start looking . I cant see you resting until you get what you want so discount any other short term ideas and focus on the type r if thats what you realy want .Its what i would do anyway .
The surgery is open 24- 7 ,block booking for you Matt

Theres one by me in Sonic Blue for £8K think its a V4. Going to have a look on Saturday.

Local dealers had a V4 for £8k. I missed it being on holiday. Its been sat in the dealer repair bays for the past 2 weeks with the front end sitting suspicously high in the air

I'm sure its under warranty so £8k not bad for a car that will eventually have a new rebuilt engine.

Dan I've had alook on there website yesterday and they still have a few good examples from the pic's showing. I might be interested in going for drive up there Xmas week to have a look.

They messed me around last time, but until I go up and have a look in person I can't comment on there condition.

Kev, does the block booking count for a everyday session's.

Phil, I found the Jap cars seem to be better on Rust protection than the RB5 I have at the moment. After seeing Dans and Brun's front bumper bar and the back of my car the UK's seem to rust very easily. It might be different on other UK models.

So Kev when's the first session, also this could be the last time I'm on the NET until after xmas possiblly.

My laptop has finally had it and will be going in for repair tomorrow by PCworld, I might have it back before xmas but this depends on how fast they can repair it.

Its showing multiple colours and at the moment it shows bright green.

So If I don't get back on the net until after xmas, if someone wouldn't mind giving me a bell or txting just before the Spairs rally on the 27th like meet times and so on, my No. is 07789 280429.

So have a good xmas everyone and see you 27th.

Not being on SN so often will probably heel me from all this madness.

Do any of the local guys fancy meeting for a quick drink towards nxt Friday, maybe the Lion, ****sheaf or the club one night. Just a thought.
