HELP!!
Last night driving home I gave my car some beans pulling out of a junction and the car spun all 4 wheels on what I think was some ice or deisel. The car hit the rev limiter, I changed up into 2nd and then the car felt really sluggish all the way home.
At lunchtime today I was driving home to check whether my UK300 spoiler had been delivered, (which it has
) and the car still felt a bit sluggish so I opened her up going up a hill on the A48. I hit about 85mpg in 4th when the car hit it's usual flat spot.
The car felt awful and then I noticed the "Check Engine Light" was flashing at me. FOOKIN HELL!!!! I let the car drop to 40mph immediately and then took it really steady all the way home. The light went out after about 30 seconds and hasn't come back on since but the engine still doesn't feel great.
I'm due back at PS on Friday anyway but I phoned Rich straight away and he thinks it may be over-boosting but said he'll sort it all out on Friday.
However, I am worried. Any ideas?

this is a wild stab in the dark but the engines can trip in to safe mode for certain reasons, however you know it had done that as opposed to just be sluggish
when my check engine light kept coming on on the uk300 CVC asked if the car was low on petrol as going up hills had been know to cause it - something to do with starving the engine!
all in all no help at all sorry Rich but i hope you get it sorted!

I don't think it's fuel as I have 3/4 tank at the moment. It's a fairly steep hill and the Impreza Owner's Manual does say to avoid steep uphill grades (amongst other things) if the light flashes.
Strange how it happened at the flat spot. When John drove it he did say it felt like a misfire, which the falshing light can also indicate is wrong with the engine.

take it easy rich never a good thing when the check engine light comes on,it could be overboost.is the engine any louder than normal, when my old scoob overboosted (due to me putting on a bleed valve)i blow two coil packs, you havent got coil packs but you can still wreck spark plugs and stuff.sometimes the car will go into limp home mode but if this was the case you would have no boost at all.

Still, it's more likely to be related to the flat spots I would think.....

It idles fine and starts fine and the light hasn't been back on since but the car feel gutless.
It seems really unresponsive and seriously lacking torque.

The car will still idle with a f**ked MAF, but kangarooing can occur. The ECU learns to keep the engine running. Disconnect the MAF and the engine should die like John Wayne, if not then the ECU is compensating for the MAF, therefore f**ked MAF.
Maybe try an ECU reboot to clear any bad habits off there first, if you've been mapped on one fuel and are now runing another that may have something to do with it.... how much fuel have you in the car at the moment Richie ?? maybe you need to get you normal fuel back in especially if your having the map re-adjusted on it this week.
Just keep calm you will get there

(bloody "Invalid link" error - no emoticons for me in this thread :-(
Anyway.
I've just got back from Powerstation and I'm well pleased with the results. The flat spots have gone, the acceleration is punchier and I have more power and torque! :-)
There wasn't anything particularly wrong with the car (and strangly no errors in the CEL history log, which Rich found odd).
He spent nearly 2 hours remapping it and found that I was suffering from some minor det in the mid-range but nothing serious. He did find that the "Main ignition map" and "Ignition correction map" were working against each other and probably causing the problem so he spent plenty of time remapping the ignition characteristics.
He also changed the throttle/lambda figures (not sure of the exact parameter) from 20% to 30% to try and improve my ****ty MPG's.
I've listed my last map and new map figures below, makes pretty interesting reading, especially the "Wheel power" figure :-)!
Before:
Corrected power = 258.3 bhp
Engine power = 255.6 bhp
Wheel power = 155.2 bhp
Drag power = 100.5 bhp
Max power at = 5805 rpm
Torque = 347.2 Nm
Max torque at = 3520 rpm
Now:
Corrected power = 261.2 bhp
Engine power = 264.2 bhp
Wheel power = 165.7 bhp
Drag power = 98.5 bhp
Max power at = 5795 rpm
Torque = 348.8 Nm
Max torque = at 3840 rpm
In addition to the figures, the torque kicks in sooner and he said he's managed to get it to spool up sooner.
All in all, a good result.

Yeah, I'm well pleased. And I managed to get back in time to wash the car and wheels plus a quick bonnet polish!!
She looks stunning out of the window right now, (especially with the new spoiler
). Time to go and fill her back up with some of Texaco's finest!!

Waste of £10.
Next time I bought the chrome ones from Halfords for £3.50. They looked good........until some **** nicked them all.
