Hi again,

Anything else written on your exhaust?, I think Jasma means its compliant with Jap noise regs (or something like that), I have had two Jap exhausts from different companies both with a Jasma plate fitted.

You might want to try Bob Rawle, he is known as a techie Guru in the subaru world (search his replies on scoobynet).

http://www.brdevelopments.com/intro.html

His own car is dyno'd here
http://dyno.scoobynet.co.uk/jap/bob_rawle.htm
and here
http://dyno.scoobynet.co.uk/jap/bob_rawle2.htm

shows what can be achieved on a 96 import with a bit of expense(his is an Sti though but both Sti & wrx start at 280bhp on 100Ron fuel)

Rich

Hi, welcome to the community
I think the nearest 4-wheel rolling road is powerstation in cheltenham. They are tuning specialists and can sort you out with new bits & pieces as required.

Their RR dyno is a bit more conservative compared to other dynos (checkout the dyno link on scoobynet) so if your just going for a check on the power you might be disapointed. In my opinion unless you got some tuning kit that you want to set up e.g. programmable ECU, boost controller etc. a rolling road session has little point. There are lots of variables (air temp, dyno used etc.) that make trying to get an absolute, repeatable measure of power a lottery.

What WRX do you have? if the old shape import then the tuning route would be different for the new WRX.

The most popular tuning mods for scoobies are decat exhausts & performance air filter/induction kits (be wary of these some can damage the sensitive Air/fuel sensor just behind the airbox).

The next bit is down to what model of WRX you have, how much you want to spend and risk your engine.

For UK cars,
A mild increase in boost pressure with a Dawes device (a cheap but effective mechanical boost controller) will give a further performance gain. If an import be careful, they are tuned to normally run on high octane Jap fuel. You should use Super unleaded only (a lot also use octane booster). Any inrease in boost may cause detonation and may need the fueling altered to compensate.

For UK cars any more boost over a mild increase and you will have to combat the ECU fuel cut limit and consider a mappable ECU to control the fuelling (this is where the RR comes in). Higher boost (and more power) would require a new turbo - most of the UK cars have a small turbo which runs out of puff at high rpm. The jap cars generally have larger turbos with the downside of lag and loss of responsiveness.

There are plenty of options and different poeple have gone different ways - check out the dyno sites to get a rough idea of what mods give what performance improvements.

Don't forget if a new wrx - your warrantee becomes worthless.

Thanks for the replies.

Just to let you know its a 96 jap inport and already has s/s 5" jasma exh, and pipercross induction (soon to be blitz. Power engerneering seem the most likely to reprogamme ecu (but bit expensive. What you think?)

Paul - No sun strip sorry, so prop not me.

Still at odds bout engine mods (and who?) but 19's, coilovers and six pots should be one their way soon.

Feel free to email any ideas or web address's to me though
