Default Wheel Spacers

I'm looking to fill out my arches and wanted some opinions on spacers. Would a 20mm spacer cause issues, if so should I stick with 10mm?
Would the wheel alignment then need adjusting after fitting spacers as it would with a suspension change? Its a 3 door classic if that makes any difference
Dave.

Type R's don't normally need wheel spacers to fill out the arches. What wheels are on the car?
