Description sounded good til you said it made you sound like you knew what you were talking about! What exactly happened then? Didn't like to ask on the day as you didn't look best pleased with the situation...
I think the only time I got overtaken was when I was reaching for my beers on the back seat!
Edited to say it must look like I spend all day glued to this forum - took me only 3 mins to reply to you!! It's a tough life...

What a great day today was at Bedford. Many thanks to SIDC, Stef(sort yourself out m8),Mark,Darryl and Elvis (they should be in a band) from TN,and Bedford Autodrome.
Perfect weather, dry warm tarmac, and lots of fun cars. I stopped train spotting after god knows how many Scoobies ( UK Turbo's, P1's and a 22B, Sti's old and new,Skylines of every variety and state of tune,Evo's,Mx5's (Hi Matt),Bmw 3 series estate!, RS 500,Honda Accord and 2 integra's (who seemed to like spinning)etc etc, Oh and some bizarre aircraft carrier type thing that looked like a cross between a Skyline, an MPV, and a brick 5hithouse. It was twice the size of God and scary just sitting in the pits.
i had my first go on slicks in my P1 , second hand tyres but only one careful owner before , Mellow . Awesome. Turned a fun car into a devastating one. I now understand why Mellow has been sodding off into the distance and harassing Evo's and Skylines etc.. Had fun doing the same . Sorry, Cem and your sideways mates,Evo's, RS500,....
Nice to meet up with a load of people, like Puff and his little girl, Chris, Craig,Slooby,Matt,Docjock,Blowdog, Ms Sti3,Sal, and even Mark Khan, who borrowed my map and then sodded off leaving me wandering around Woburn, and then pushed in for tyres. Why you , I oughter.....
Thanks to all of you for making it such a good day.
John

You should only compare yourself to those who were trying to be fast I was out there to see how long I could keep my Skyline sideways for Far far more fun.
If anyone saw that 3-series Touring going around the track, he was utterly sideways, everywhere (awesome talent).. he wasn't the fastest, but I bet he had more giggles than most !
If it's overtaking machismo you're into, the supercharged Exige was royally kicking Scooby butt (until it's engine mount broke that is )

Oh, so it's OK for Scoobies to claim to be faster than Skylines, but it's not OK for Exiges to be faster than Scoobies ?
Or is it the fact that I was reminding people that it's a non-competitive event and we should just be out to have our own fun regardless of how fast/slow we are of others ? I must have been attending a different safety briefing to you then
If that makes me a child, may I never grow up to be something like you
This "scalp claiming" happens after ever event, and it's utterly fatuous.

Lighten up sunshine, you're missing the point by so much it's not true. Think of it as an apex and you might get within 20 feet or so of it. I did all my sideways stuff back in the 70's in a Mark Two Escort in various Rallies. It's good fun but been there , done that, don't feel the need to impress the pit lane.
At no point did I claim it was a race and I have no interest in what lap time I did etc,etc..
I was expressing having fun (remember that) and enjoying not having to spend the whole day looking in my mirrors for once.
Thought the 3 series was hysterical, fair play to the lads, the 2 blokes in the MX5's probably had the most fun out of all of us (Hi Matt) and I assume that it was you in your blue Skyline that was having a laugh on a virtually empty track at the end . It looked superb from where I was sitting - I was on a slowing down lap, when you slid into view behind me, with the full intention of going into the pits, however I was getting the best view of your antics from where I was so I stayed out for a few more laps, some from in front and some from behind. It was interesting to see you slowing down to about 40mph before the corner onto the pit straight and then booting it sideways for a couple of hundred feet.
My point of all of this is don't be so judgemental, your sort of fun is no more adult than my sort of fun and no more or less dangerous.
If this still troubles you then just stop reading Scoobynet, which is,after all, primarily for scooby owners, I'm sure there must be Skyline and Lotus bbs's.

Easy all.
Let's all leave the competitiveness outside.
As far as I'm concerned, I had an absolutely stonking day out. And to prove how grateful the Skyline boys are, check here:

Hi Cem, good comment and it was good to see you again yesterday.
Yeah what a good day, and great to see that your buddies had a good time as well. Do all the fancy black Skylines come with the two special options Shin had ? I might have to buy one yet

Trout said : if it is why are you claiming some Scooby scalps on behalf of the Exige?
Fat Boy, sorry if I sounded all high + mighty, it wasn't my intention.. I was just suggesting there were other reasons (as you saw) for being slower on the track (not to mention the warped discs that make the Himalayas look flat )

No problem, good to see someone (ab)using their car(s) in a righteous and joyful manner , rather than sitting in the pits polishing their shiny helmets. Bagsy a ride at the next one, but only if you still have no brakes and a set of old crossplies on

just wanna say that Docjock and Andy (Donnington) are f'ng ace drivers and I appreciate the rides, fantastic stuff, thanks a lot.
Doc let a strange bloke passed him called "Mellow Yellow" who stuck his tongue out at 140 mph, very entertaining!
great day out,and yes,the 2 drivers in the Beamer are top blokes but they can't drive cus they kept going sideways (;D)

Went for a coffee at S Mimms and when I came out I thought I'd woken up in Tokyo.....never seen so many Skylines in one place and several EVOs along with the Scoobs....

To a lad named Ben... sorry fella about the ride but if you look at the MRK IV vids you'll understand why I had to pack it in I hope (next time )

Hullo Fat Boy,
Cheers for the ride (and all the track info B4hand). I felt a bit like a single-seater driver jsut given his first taste in an F1 - all aspects of the car were _quite_ impressive, and then you stood on the brakes. Bl00dy 'ell!
Anyway, the Mazda contingent thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, so a big THANKS to all SIDC members for contributing to a good day out.
I THINK this was the FIRST track day I've been to where I witnessed NOT EVEN A TRACE of road-rage. You were all MEGA polite on track (possibly aided by the acres of space).
I only have one request for next time: STOP KNOCKING THE CONES OVER! It's not a race - you are allowed to apex a foot FROM the apex cone, you know! Taking the turn2 chicane became like rally driving - you had to set yourself up ready for whatever line presented itself. You can crush the exit cones into little pieces for all I care, but please leave the apex cones alone. (Not a big problem as it was on slow parts of the track, but I had to have a rant about something! )
So cheers all, and please invite us next time!
Matt (the blue Mazda)

What a great day it was at Bedford ... I had a fantastic time ... I'm so glad I decided at the last minute to go on track ... I'd have kicked myself for missing this opportunity ... especially as it was the full GT circuit.
Thanks to Simes for lending me his track wheels (I'd deliberately left mine at home to stop me from doing this track day ... fat chance )
Thanks to Trout for givig me a ride ... pity I had to do this first ... everything seemed very slow for the rest of the day
Good to meet lots of people again ...
Wot no mention of my jeans splitting from any of the muppets ... ensuring that I had to walk round all day with my jacket tied round my middle

Another great day at Bedford, it really is a great track day circuit
As Matt said the standard of the driving was excellent all day, tho personally I thought weaving your way thru the cones added to the fun
Rebecca, glad you enjoyed the tyres, hope the ride in my car wasn't too slow
Simon

Great fun - cheers for sorting it Stef, and tell me when the wedding is! The gift will be rubber!
Lots of fun chasing (NOT racing!) the Yellow Clio that was always on 3 wheels; chasing the 200SX hat spun in front of me & being able to go past some Skylines that were constantly having some sideways fun (which is clearly a bit slower 'style' ) It was also fun convincing the g/f that tyres without 'tread' were better than those with. Slicks make a good difference!
I have the bug now after my first proper trackday - thanks for the future outlay
When is the next one, other than Croft?

Would like to add my thanks to all who arranged the day - but especially to Danny and Ian(??) who managed to fix my car after I lost all boost and had to limp back to the pits - I would have been on a very slow 160 mile trip back home otherwise, apart from missing some great track time!!
The day was truely excellent

Rik,
Sorry I missed you but I went home at lunch time.
Simon,
Ah ha Rebecca had your old wheels.
Jason(Blue),
It's not how fast you can go it's how much noise you can make whilst doing it
Mellow,
I really enjoyed the laps around with you Just think how much better could you have gone with some fresh Toast for Breakie LOL
