Nurburgring 12th-15th July

Hi Mark,
did you get back safe and sound?
Looked like you were enjoying yourself while you were there!
Was watching you on the approach to Breidscheid and Ex-Muhle and the car looked quick through there.

I wasn't too impressed with the standard of some peoples driving, 90% being Brits
It looked to me like one of Scumballers hit another car on track and drove off! I was in the car park and a few marshals turned up on a mission to find a car, they soon found it. Next thing the police arrive so does the driver of the car he hit. I'm sorry but that's inexcusable. Another Scumballer wrote his car off. I'm guessing all noobs... show a little to the circuit
If the driver of a white Sapphire Cosworth was in your group tell him to look in his mirrors next time, I was not impressed with his driving. I know we all have to start somewhere, I spent my first 50 laps with one eye on the track the other in my mirrors but I always let faster cars through. We've all paid our money and we all want to enjoy the Nordschleife. Incidently, no problems with your driving I remember you pulling over a couple of time to let me through and leaving me the racing line.
I'll get off my soapbox now
I'm back out there in 3 weeks via Spa-Francorchamps

Yep,that was me.
Have to agree with you about the standard of driving, don't know who the wand in the Cossie was, seen him driving like a tit behind me and let him through, either that or he was gonna collect me,just so he could tell his mate's he'd overtaken a STi .
There was another Brit in a 48yr old Civic, exactly the same,on the ragged edge, nearly rear ended me trying too hard, let him past,he promptly went straight over two sets of curbs and understeered round the next two
Just to show it's not just the Brits,I got held up just prior to the mini Karussel all the way to S/schwanz,by a tit in a German reg 318i Rent a wreck, went to overtake him and he just cut right across the front of me,then couldn't look at me when I tried to show my feelings!!!
Still had a great time,21 laps,back there in 3weeks

Its the best driving experience i have ever had. Everyone should go at some point.
Be sure you know your car very well / and your car is in tip top condition as its a harsh time, especially if the temperatures rise as they do sometimes. Last year was hitting 40 degrees

I managed 6 consecutive laps of the GP & Nordschleife before things got a bit too hot for the old girl.

At this short notice you'll be lucky to find a hotel near the circuit for your group i.e. Nurburg/Adenau. I always stay at the Blaue Ecke in Adenau, not the cheapest but we're always very well looked after. If you're brave there's a campsite by the GP circuit.
Best route? It's pretty simple Calais>Brussels>Liege>Ring. Spa-Francorchamps is on the way and worth a stop, being owned by the local Council you can walk into the circuit. Well worth seeing Eau Rouge first hand and if you're lucky there will be some cars on track. Allow 4.5 hrs with a fuel/pee stop.
Only advice is treat the Nordschleife with the greatest of respect. I've seen too many noobs, especially Brits, suffer the Curse of Clarkson and go out to beat 10 minutes with fatal consequences. I've done 104 laps this year and not timed a single one, enjoy the experience, bring your car and most importantly yourself back in one piece.
