croft track day
ive been down there a couple of times with mate who races and as soon as i got an impreza and he drove it the 1st thing he said was i have to get it on a track day, just the soonest 1 is april and im sellin car soon
dont think ill get to do 1.

When did they stop the slicks? I did two track days there last year and the first I saw an Evo show up at dinner time who promptly swopped to slicks. Then on another occasion in the garage next to me was a hybusa caterham type car and he was on slicks all day. It pi$$ed down rain in the morning and he was really slow
Once it dried out though he was gone. These were Croft track days as per their website BTW.
Although I've raced there many times in the last few years, maybe they've changed there regulations since I last did a trackday there- about 2005. I got pulled leaving the pit lane in a clio cup (race car, testing, not a 172 road car thing), on slicks, and was made to change them to road tyres (or 'wets', the only alternative we had with us...)
As it happens it did me a favour, as I'd only come in to check the car over after a spin while playing with a radical. Caught my thumb and thought I'd just bruised it, but spent 18 weeks in plaster and two operations for a torn ligament
If they've changed the rules re slicks then thats great, all they need to do now is run open pitlane and I'll come out to play as I hate sessions, although I understand why they're necessary.

AHHHHHHHHHH croft good track ,I did the first test day ,before a race meeting ,on the muddy new track ,and very muddy race day. Brings back memories of overnight tarmac laying, inbetween testing and racing ,to stop single seaters falling off the edge.

Good day yesterday. Thankfully the rain held off.
I was there in our the yellow 205 and the MK1 Escort.
Croft certainly haven't banned slicks as we run either Toyo R888's if damp (not wet), or Michelin S9B slicks. Yesterday we can the R888's though.
Mate ran the Michelin S9B's on his Clio yesterday.

Some in-car footage from Sunday. Camera was mounted a little high up in the MK1 Esc. unfortunately.

Footage is quite poor compared to how we normally have the camera in the Pug.

The Pug video was from Sept last year, Pug is my normal chariot around Croft.
As for times around Croft, I lap around 1m 48 or so in the Pug. Down to 1m 55 in the Escort (so I was told ~ Haven't checked from the video timings though)

Try extreme photography they are usually at croft have a look also at the Javelin trackdays site they give a link to extreme photography you might be lucky they might of been covering the day that you were there.
On the Monday I am doing a Ferrari and Aston Martin Experience day (I think it is at Teeside autodrome) so might be just being greedy
