I'll be attaending this.
The wife has paid for me as a Father's Day present (Cool!).
My first outing onto on a circuit in my own car, so a little nervious.
Look out for a dark blue M plate wagon and any advise will be appriciated.

Sounds like good, sensible advise. Take it that costs extra?
Last thing I want is to stuff the car, so had in the back of my mind take it easy. Just want to make sure that the so called horns don't come out and I push it beyond my own abilities, as I'm sure that's easily done.
Cheers.

yes, very easily done
Tuition varies per track day organiser but prob no more than £25 per session and worth every penny. I still have tuition at every opportunity and listen to their advice.
Cadwell is very narrow (4 Metres wide) and hilly with very little run off in places. there is also sections under the trees that are extremely slippery when wet. Listen to the driver briefing and build speed up - dont be tempted to try and keep up with people.
Having said that, relax, have fun and make sure you and your car are ready for it:
A checklist that we have given to new track day people is:
Build your speed and dont worry about faster cars overtaking you - be aware of this and let them past - DONT try and race them
From reading this thread there are a lot of things but in reality most of it is common sense and given in the briefing but here is my mental checklist:
Take:
- Driving Licence (both parts for most circuits)
- Breakdown Service details
Clothing:
- if you have a racesuit - wear it.. a lot of people do now
- if you havent then stick with natural fibres and long sleeved top (not fleece .. as these burn very well... sorry to be morbid but....) and long trousers (not that you would ever wear shorts at snetterton)
- thin soles shoes or race boots
- driving gloves or race gloves ... your hands get sweaty from the nerves and these help you keep a grip on the steering wheel
- helmet .. get one that fits and is in good condition (preferably your own so that you know it hasnt been dropped etc)
Car:
pre-event checks:
- brake pads
- brake fluid
- tyre condition
- tyre pressures (best to add a bit extra PSI)
- fluid/oil leaks - dont be the one that drops oil onto the track
- wheel nuts tight
- tape glass headlights
- fit towing eye
on-event checks:
- wheel nuts
- tyre pressures
- tyre condition (some events wear tyres quickly)
- fluid levels
- petrol .. keep an eye on the fuel level - it goes quickly and it would be really embrassing to run out
- engine temps
good practice:
- tape up glass headlight/tali lights
- warm up the tyres/brakes on the sighting lap/s (but dont weave around like a tit - it really makes you look daft)
- overtake only where allowed and with the permission of the car you are passing
- overtake on LEFT (unless directed to overtake on the right in the briefing)
- always check your mirrors and blindspots - helmets are quite restrictive vision wise and there may be someone close to you if you make a sudden change of direction
- cool down lap/s are a great idea
- leave engine running for a while after you come in
- do NOT put on the handbrake (try and find some level ground to stop on and leave in gear after engine turned off)
- you are not aryton senna and you will not impress anyone by trying to outdrive yourself ie build your speed up gradually

Absolutly GUTTED !!!
Had to cancel for Saturday.
Car has been in the garage since the last bank holiday after a theft attempt in Manchester and I have been praying that it would be back in time for this Saturday, well infact tomorrow as it's booked in for some DBA discs and Endless pads and a brake fluid refreshment.
Damn insurance garage has let me down as the lock set needed won't be in the country until Thursday, the main dealers on Friday and hence available to fit on Monday... ...too bloody late.
Motorvision have been informed and providing they can fill my spot I will incur a £20 fee, but can book somewhere else.
So if you know anyone wanted to attend this there is a space free THAT NEEDS FILLING!!!!!!!

True, that was my approach, but an ignition would be handy.
They won't release it unsecure anyway.
Someone has taken my spot now, so just a £20 admin fee and re-book another day once my car is back on the road.
Will have to be soon as we (the family and I) are off to Germany for the Grand Prix this summer, and therefore a must is a run around the "Ring" whilst we're there (Hell Yer!!!) and wanted to get a track day in before we go to see what the car would do, rather than being surprised out there.
Looks to be some dates at Brands or Bedford between now and mid-July so we'll look into booking one of those.
May see some of you at one of those.

Unlucky you had to cancel, Cadwell is a great track if not unforgiving (aka the mini-ring)
I did a open pit lane day there last month great fun.
Good luck at Nurburgring, Everything you learn on a track day goes out of the window, no manners, flashing, undertaking, plus bikers to contend with, amazing experience though
