#1
hi guys!
will be going to donny for my first ever track day. really excited. few questions first:
1. i was told castrol rs engine oil is better than mobil 1. is that true?
2. what's the specification for the p1's brake fuel ie. what dot?
3.which octane booster should i get?
4. i'm thinking of bringing a friend. would there be helmets available?
5. will there be a convoy going to donny that morning? i'm coming from london.
thanks.

Tim, check the thread 'SIDC Track Day at Donno...' from Stef. Lots of good info there.
Best oil? I'll be running Castrol RS 10-60, but I've always run Mobil Motorsport 15-50 before! Make a cup of tea and do a search. There's several hours reading on this under Drivetrain section.
Don't know what brake fluid P1s use, but your brakes will get bl00dy hot so 5.1 recommended. Check with your dealer as you may need to flush the system to upgrade. More importantly, take a spare set of front pads with you (and rears too, if they're less than 5mm to go). Are you doing the SIDC day at Dono on Nov 3rd? Then you can order pads from Mark at Tyres Northampton and they'll fit them for you at the track.
Octane booster is a good idea, especially to protect against det. Order some Millers from ScoobyMania, or Nitrous Forumula from New Age Motorsport. Millers is tried, tested, popular and easy to use. NF is new stuff from Oz and claims big RON increases. Those that have tried it say it's great, and I'll be giving it a whirl with Optimax
Not sure about helmets. Best phone the circuit to be certain.
There's usually a few convoys, details posted here. You can always start one yourself
Enjoy!
Richard.
