Haynes Autumn Classic - Motorsport Experience Tour
Saturday 27th October 2001
Haynes Classic Tours are pleased to announce the inaugural running of the Autumn Classic - an event for both Classic and modern-day cars.
Created especially for owners who just love to drive and to put their pride and joy through its paces, we have created a unique event which provides the opportunity to experience the thrill of motorsport, without the stress of competition.
The event takes crews to a number of recognised venues along the south coast of Wales, offering a varied selection of roads and tracks which have been previously used for competitive motoring. The event starts from the magnificent setting of Tredegar House, with a driving test within grounds - just to get cars and crews warmed-up. It is then a short journey east where entrants will have the opportunity of driving twice around the maze of roads and junctions which make up the Caerwent Military Camp, a venue regularly used for stage rallies, including this yearıs Welsh Rally in August.
The route then heads south, past Cardiff and to the Sprint Circuit of Llandow, this recently improved venue having hosted rallies, short circuit racing and sprints. Crews then travel further west past Swansea and Llanelli, to the Welsh Motorsport Centre at Pembrey. There then follows two runs of an actual rally stage which has been prepared by Carmarthen Motor Club for a Rally which is scheduled to take place the following day.
The final venue encountered is Pembreyıs racing circuit, this popular track having seen numerous race meetings during the course of the year.
The Haynes Autumn Classic finishes with a buffet served for all taking part, in the Pembrey Circuit Club House. There then follows a prizegiving ceremony where awards will be presented for driving standards and the best presented cars of the various judged categories.
With the event being held on a Saturday, it will also provide you with the opportunity of a leisurely return home from West Wales on Sunday.
We therefore have pleasure in extending an invitation to anyone with a Classic, Sports or Specialist car, manufactured between 1940 and the present day, to join us for what
promises to be unique day of social motorsport.
Cost will be £150 for the whole event, including a buffet dinner.
For copies of the regulations and entry forms, please ask people to contact the Entries Secretary, Pauline Penn, at the Haynes Motor Museum:
