Oulton Park - Friday
#1
What a cracking day yesterday, i only did the afternoon, paid £80 and got unlimited track day. Bargin of the year. Managed to clock up 105 miles in 2 1/2 hours.
Big, Big Thanks to my pit crew - Steve, poor guy thought he was only going to be spectating. Drove me home to get my slicks in the biggest down pour this year, through shed loads of Traffic on the M6. Got back to Oulton helped change the wheels. Just our luck it started raining, slicks in the wet, no way. By the time we had changed over, the rain had passed and i went out. Straught away i had more grip than the SO2's, god they are naff tyres once worn (The same tyres i had at the Ring).
Put in some stunning laps, and had a great laugh. There was two 22B's, P1, New STi, i seemed to be passing them with no probs, perhaps newbies.
Met a few more Scoobynet people, im pants with names.
Thanks to Kevin (Evo IV TM), for the petrol, i will catch you next time.
You know your lapping at a fare old pace when the driver of the extremely quick Skyline comes over and checks out my motor.
Great day, Track etiquette was excellent, well done Warrender and Easytrack.
Thanks again Steve

Matt,
Top day, cheers mate.
Glad you were able to put in some good times (not that we were timing of course) despite having Mr Creosote in the passenger seat
See you soon mate,
Stevie

Matt,
I was talking to the chap with the Skyline, who races a Formula 3 in a series for 2 year old cars, and he reckons a Civic Type R on slicks is 5 to 6 seconds a lap quicker than his car round Oulton!!
Wether he was basing that judgement on previous encounter with your car or another Civic I don't know.
He also said his brake pads (AP Racing on the fronts) last 2 trackdays, and cost £600 a set, presumably for front and rear, and he had nearly destroyed a new set of 255 wide tyres in the morning session, and was swapping them for another brand new set on spare rims.
Its only money after all.
At the time I was talking to him, it was before you had gone on track.
Cheers MTR
(I was talking to you and your pal on the pit wall, just before you went legging off all excited saying £80 whoopee, I'm on track)

Hi MTR nice to have met you,
I think that guy came and saw me later on, and said i was driving rather quickly, and was very surprised i used standard discs.
Not half as surprised as the 22B driver was when i was stuck to his rear bumper.
I think i am going to invest in some 1177 Mintex full competition Pads, as running on slicks needs them.
I did not see you once i got back.
I may be going again next month, will have to see, finances etc
I will post on here, and i will take you out for a couple of passenger laps.

Matt,
In the afternoon my friend Tony (Sparkplug on this BBS)wanted to get some video footage from different vantage points around the circuit, and then we had to shoot off at 3:15pm, as he had to babysit his daughter while mummy went out.
The joys of parenthood. :
Myself , Tony and Young Ged (Chris) were stood at the bottom of Clay hill (I don't know the name of the bend) watching a white Civic, with red seats, driver had red gloves on and had his window open, reving like a good un up the hill.
I presume that must have been you?
If I can make it to the next track day, I will come and take you up on the offer of a ride.
Cheers MTR

totally agree with Type R on the day, good value, good track time, very good track etiquette. What about the Ultimas? great noise, almost as loud as the 106.
Best bit of the day was letting a certain instructor play in the P1, lap one ok, lap two brakes smoking, lap three brakes went home early, more 1155 mintex pads and all is well.

Answer to Evo106rallye is YES!!!!!
I've got you teararsing down the start straight and into the first corner a couple of times and also some other parts of the circuit (doing about 18 thousand rpm)
Sorry for the delay but I've been busy with work and a new baby.
I will have some on this weekend for you and typeR.
Tony.
