Donnington 15th April...Who's going?
I have had to cancel, due to one hell of a long day on Sat up 5.00am to drive to Anglesay, track day on Sat hopefully. Back to Wigan by 7.00pm. Running a Night club till 3.00am.
If Anglesay cancels i will come to Donnington and try to get in last minute.

I'm going to watch!
Look out for the Fiesta in the car park the BOB.T stickers in the back windows, they give it away a bit! It probably still won't have it's front bumper on either!
Type R, Doh, I'm gutted!

Paul blagged us two tickets courtesy of BMW so we might bring the girls, question is..how much are non-pre booked tickets on the day.
And shall we all meet up somewhere?
Hoping to make it.

Cheers Phil,
Good to put faces to names at last,I spent 10 mins talking with Ian re; upgrades etc... then we sat and had a picnic in the car,the heavens opened with a great downpour, dashed over to see cars sliding and the roofless people getting wet! Had a great run back and ended up coming off the M1 at jnc 26 and headed through Ripley, Matlock up the excellent twisty road, A6, to Bakewell and Buxton, through Stockport and on to the M60 home for 3.45pm. Now covered all of 560 miles (painful ain't it)! We should've asked the white van man if he had any burgers or hotdogs......jobsworth ! Let me know if you arrange a "Notts" evening pub meet, me and my good lady will saunter down and probably do an overnighter! ( kids excluded )
Regards

BTW, my next door neighbour has an Si the same colour as yours, let me know if you need a spare bumper, I'll nip out in the night with my socket set!

Hi guys. I wondered where you lot were, since there was only one other Scoob on track. You the blue cars in the far corner, one with red calipers
? Sorry, should have twigged and said hello. Met Mike Tuckshop and Ian Gratton.
The track was superb - I really enjoyed it. Wet, damp, dry, then very wet etc. Those Mazda hoods up and down like a tart's knickers! Lovely little cars, but so so slow! Even the supercharged ones.
That red Porche was lightning quick in the dry but slowed down big time in the wet! I was chuffed that my UK00 with PPP could hold the Honda NSX in a straight line, even gain a yard maybe. Had good fun trying to catch that old MGB (how old was that car?!?). It was flying, and handled really neat. Closer inspection revealed it was a stripped out racer, 3.9 litre Rover running semi-slicks. And that Saxo was no slouch!
Track manners weren't great. Drivers just would not move over. Bloke in a Sierra Cossy 4x4 had to spin it before he'd let me pass. The day ended on a bum note though, with an Evo losing it out of the Melborune hairpin and managed to smack both ends pretty hard. I have to say he was driving very fast on a track with a lot of standing water.
Hope to see you all next time.
Richard.

Richard,
You were the guy on the track then! Sorry we didn't intro, bloody cold, then wet, then very wet. I was down from Rochdale with my young lad but found it hard to stay for the duration due to the cold. That MG was certainly quick, that K reg 911 seemed to be lightening though...your scoob looked brill...rather quiet...but brill, what mods have you made (if any) how did it like the track ? which evo crunched, the all white one or red/white ? all these questions. Ian was itching to take his car out but didn't want to get his new "boots" dirty, neither would I if they looked like that!My P1 has only covered 540 miles so needs a bit more feathering yet...but I'll be there as I was with my yellow STI6 at Trax 2000.
Regards

Chris/Phil. Yeah, I guess it wasn't much of a day for a social. Bloody awful, actually. Next time.
It was the all-white Evo that binned it, up the hill out of the Melbourne Hairpin. I didn't see it go, and a strange accident to hit both right-hand front and rear wings pretty hard. Left side untouched. It was a long way up from the corner and Tuckshop guessed he'd lost it on the exit, then over-corrected and put the car in an anti-clockwise spin towards the outside barrier.
The NSX was being driven very cautiously, but I reckoned that he'd at least be flat on the straight when it was dry, so still well pleased
What's wrong with my exhaust? SS downpipe and mid-section, plus PPP. It sounded well loud from where I was sitting! One guy came over to congratulate me, very different from the Mazdas etc, and asked what pipe I had. Are you confusing me with the other silver Scoob out there? Mine has Hoppy on the front!!!
But the best sounding Scoob prize has to go to Ian Gratton's P1. I've forgotten exactly what it was, but it was absolutely huge and I think he was a bit embarrassed by the noise! It made Mike's ScoobyMania pipe look and sound a bit tame!
Richard
PS Other mods, Prodrive suspension and APR 6-pots making their track debut. Had 16in APR 4-potters before, which were seriously impressive, but the big 6-pot kit is really something else. Massive power. Enough to trigger the ABS at 120mph! Pagid RS421 pads, great feel. Just fabulous.

Bloody hell Richard, you must have been going that fast we all missed you mate
I have to say I didn't see you as I'm certain I wouldn't have forgotton your "set up". Ians exhaust set up is scoobysport downpipe, mid section with a Blitz backbox, wicked to say the least...althugh I've told him that he really needs to get rid of it quickly...........TO ME !
To the next event then !

Guys.
you are confused about Richards(hoppy) car...it was loud. There was however a silver Type R going round the track with a stock exhaust system....I think you guys have your lines crossed
I never did meet the guy with the Type R....haven't got a clue how it was (doh!)
I really can't wait for the next one.
Um....yes the blitz thingy is a bit on the loud side. but its growing on me now....we'll see If I have a headache after the drive to my folks next friday LOL.

Leigh, I think I probably did spot your motor, I just didn't see anyone near a scoob all day!
I don't actually need a new bumper but I could use some rear drums?
Bob
PS that Saxo did seem to have some go!?

I think the car was made for donnington. Great fun. Though there were plenty of people who weren't hanging around either.
I found the "GP" part of the circuit difficult to go quickly on though, very difficult to get grip coming out the slow corners.
In fact I feel a thread coming on
- whats the fastest way to get a fwd car round the melbourne hairpin in the wet ? If you go in slow & wide it takes ages to get the car turned round, then ages before you get any traction down the straight. In fast and trail the brakes, then the car turns very quickly and it "feels" much faster; but is it ?

yep good day all round (except the weather), got to agree about the morons though - Mr BMW Z3 and that daft single seater thing in particular were very dangerous to try and get by....
Never quite sure whats going through these peoples minds, you come flying up behind over a couple of corners and they just stick themselves right in the middle of the track. What do they want me to do ? Stuff them up the inside on the brakes ? no thanks... anyway.
Fun watching the NSX spin just in front of me at the melbourne loop & the modified MGF going straight on at craners ("TURN LEFT, TURN LEFT... oops...."
)
Saw the scoobies, but didnt see anyone with them

Have to agree about that single-seater. Dangerous. Completely unpredictable and very slow. I came too close to running it over twice.
Richard.

Jon,
If it makes you feel any better, i have a nightmare at Melbourne too. I go in fast and trail the brakes and apply the throttle once the car is going the way i want it to.
I find loops tricky in the best of conditions, and always up for a few tips.
