Getting expensive isn't it
Full on trackdays appear to be going the same way. It's a direct consequence of the claim culture we now live in.
However, the £35 you paid today, didn't some of that (£15?) pay the 2005 membership fee?
Did you hear the bit in briefing about the *noise* problem? Can't see Elvington lasting much longer tbh, or at least they'll be stood there with a sound meter, which will stop those rather fast bikes running.
****'in NIMBY's.

Not In My Back Yard...
Almost as bad as the people who moved onto a newly built housing estate near Goodwood race circuit and then wanted it closed, or tougher noise limits at Donington...which is right under the take off path for East Midlands airport

The only problem on the horizon with Elvington is that they are selling/have sold off the land for development.
I doubt whether the nimby's will have much to complain about with RWYB days as they are used to ex-RAF jets landing and taking off!!! At one RWYB day, the cars were stood down for half an hour so this jet fighter (Hunter I think) could land and refuel then do some four or five dummy landing's and emergency aborts (where the wheels touch down and then full power is applied and the jet takes off again) after that even the specilist hot rod bikes sounded quiet!!!
Oh well - let's wait and see.

Oh well - if you have the money flaunt it!
still, my point is the neighbours are unlikely to complain about some load cars when they have jets landing and taking off - not to mention the air show that goes one every August

Neighbours will complain about anything and everything. Makes no odds as to what is making the noise.
Although I suppose the current planning use is for an airfield (hang over from WWII and unlicenced that it is), so maybe clamping down on aircraft noise would be a bit more difficult. Not sure how the Victor would fit into that, because you could technically argue that it is no longer an aircraft?
I really hope this facility doesn't go to the wall, but it appears on the face of it that York CC refuse permission to use the airfield for anything, so eventually the owner will give up and sell it off for housing or industrial usage

i dont think they can refuse permission for motorsport, but the noise regs that may come in might handicap the bikes/cars that use it a fair bit, or they may have to run less events there per year to comply. when you think its probably less than a dozen people complaining, compared to the hundreds/thousands of motorsport people that use it, plus other events on there such as the airshow etc etc, its a bit of a farce.
we'll no doubt here how the appeals go.
