It's gotta be said the NBO 2003 was a cracking day
A great deal of hard work was put in by John/Martin + the Cumbrian Scoobs and the Tyne Tees Scoobies to acheive what must be the biggest and the best Scoob meeting of the year.
How come two local scoob groups could organize and pull off the NBO when the SIDC couldn't manage to arrange anything ?
ie National Day
Great to know plans are being made for NBO 2004 already
Looking forward to next June already

Whilst the NBO was a great success and had a fantastic turnout and everybody enjoyed it and was well organised
The National Day at Donnington included Track Time and the Venue had to be hired
We simply haven't been able to secure a venue at the weekend in the right area for any money this year. The last venue we tried wanted £12,500 pounds 50% Payable NOW
The Committee are meeting soon to discuss the exact issue
If Members weren't worried about including a track element in the Day then it would be alot easier
In the meantime we are fortunate enough to have individual groups organising events like this.
Don't forget about events like
Japfest,Trax and Rally Day

Indeed but Croft isn't Central enough
LWV is Miles from me in Essex BUT it is Central hence the Good turnout
You are never going to please everybody
Donnington is ideal but they had no free weekends available
Dare I say it but Beford is a good venue but History prevents us from going there
Any way we are hijacking a thread here so good luck to the NBO2

I raised the SIDC National Day question on 17/1/03 on th SIDC forums and a debate ensued if you remember.
Whilst i appreciate and fully understand the problems regarding the cost of a track for a day it makes me wonder will things be any different next year ?
Worth mentioning that the NBO wasn't held in a central location but peeps came from as far away as the Channel Islands, Wales and the far north of Scotland to meet in a field.
Oh and the other thing was the venue did not cost a penny but approx £1200 was raised for charity
Cheers Simon

All those that are saying the LWV is not central seem to have forgotten about Scotland, Wales etc.
LWV can't be more than 230 miles from London (along one road BTW so easy to find), thats only 3 good hours driving (good as in solid not entertaining). I only live about 30 miles from LWV but managed a slight detour to meet up with the dales posse in the south lakes before going the scenic route (160 miles total). Why do we all have cars? To look at and polish or to drive??
I am sure there will be vast improvements to be seem in NBO2 over an already excellent NBO1 with more to see and do and who knows NBO3 could be held at a track venue somehwere in the UK. We would all like to have the entertainment of track action (either participating or watching) but how many people can justify the expense, risk to warrenties, risk of damage, etc.
All respect to Lordy and co for exceeding everyones expectations on a budget get together, good luck with the organisation of NBO2 and let me know if I can be of assistance.

We are arranging several meetings with track venues at the moment to progress this forward
With the up heavel with the circuits at the moment it is still proving difficult
We will get there..................... eventually
In the meantime don't forget the events like Trax and Rallyday which the club is activley involved with

The NATIONAL BIG ONE 2004 will have new features to set the standards for all scooby owners meets
This was our first meet organised by a few people who had a <vision>
I was disapointed that the SIDC did not offer to have a stand there for their committee to meet the club members and sell T-shirts etc
thanks go to phil for the raffle prizes which raised so much money on the day but i would have liked to have seen some of the SIDC organisers get involved in what most people have classed the NBO as the event of the year .
prehaps next year we can count on more support /sponsership from the SIDC as there isnt a lot going on in the North East/cumbria area for SIDC members

Lord Harding,
You know that you can rely on the FULL support of myself and the members of the Tyne Tees Scoobies with the organisation of the NBO 2004 and any other future events.
The last one was an incredible success (for a first attempt)and shows what the subaru community is capable of with a little bit of commitment and enthusiasm from a couple of local owners clubs.
I am aware of many groups in the North of England that have members with a passion and commitment to get more out of their scoobs. This should be the driving force to our vision of a Northern Impreza Driving Club, which would have the sole purpose of bringing together likeminded individuals and groups for such events as the NBO etc.
I think we may need to talk further with our friends in Yorkshire, Lancashire and Scotland (and anyone else that is willing to share our 'vision' for the future.
Speak soon
Martin

I reckon we should make our overnight camp available to everyone next year as it was a great sucess, especially for anyone travelling far, we had a few Scots this year
We only travelled from the East Midlands, but still made a weekend of it with a North York Moors run on the Saturday

What a great idea.
How about a marquee, a live band and a BBQ the night before?
PARTY>>PARTY>>PARTY
I can just imagine Lord Harding's face now!!!!!!!
That looks like something for the NIDC to sort out John.
By the way, have you all got your copy of the Japanese Performance Magazine. Myself and John will be autographing copies shortly. LOL
