Me and some of the local (Devon & Cornwall) guys would like to arrange an airfield day.
We have found an airfield that is willing to let us hire it for a day, but dont have a clue what rules and regs we need to follow etc. Whether we need to organise safety personnel, disclaimers, helmets etc.........
If anyone has organised a similar thing before, please get in touch as we need some idea of what the legalities are and what our responsibility would be.
cheers

You need to have public liability insurance (which for a one-off event won't be cheap), marshals, medics, fire extinguishers, disclaimers, flags, radios, cones, the list is pretty long ! Something else to consider is that a few airfield owners will not hire out to individuals as well.
It's probably a lot easier to get an established trackday organiser to arrange it for you, I might happen to know one that would

For simplicity and saftey, all we are really looking to do is 1/4 mile timed runs. I have read on the santa pod raceway website, that you dont even need a helmet to do a run on their "run what you brung" days if the terminal speed on the quarter is less than 100 miles an hour.
