So the camera just before the Tesco's roundabout behind the un-marked van is not collecting for a rainy day then.

Thumbs up

During the recent BHP cruise to Southend on Sea

A mobile camera was spotted in a national speed limit section of the A127

Now here's the myth I understood that the mobile gatso's had to be operated from a clearly marked vehicle [as is normal practise in Southend]

This one was nicley hidden behind Southend Police's Black Umarked 530d

Well we all waved as we cruised past at 10mph

When I got home I fired of a query on this matter to Essex Police Website

this is there response

Mr Stephens

Thank you for your e-mail and your support for the safety cameras.

In answer to your question under the partnership rules the police are allowed to undertake covert speed enforcement operations to target specific groups such as motorcyclists partcipating at high speed along known "circuits", or "cruisers" travelling at reckless speeds along the A127.

This is not undertaken as flagrant revenue collection as you suggest. The excessive speeds in which the groups are targetted, would almost certainly mean the offenders would go straight to court rather than sent a conditional offer of payment.

Far from alienating the public, the local communities in the areas affected by these minority groups who have a blatent disregard for road safety, vulnerable road users and the legal speed limits, rightfully demand the Police take action to address the problem.

I hope my reply is of some interest to you
Well that told me

Lucky I have got my Snooper
