Default Blob Owners with Nipples :-)

For those of you that have decided to fit grease nipples to your shocks to load em up with grease to stop the dreaded knocking - how often do you re-grease / top then up?

I try to do it every 6 months; you can feel the gun resisting if the shock doesn't need grease. However, if the shaft has worn, the problem will return as the grease solidifies or leaks out. Enginetuner did mine. The grease probably lasts longer in winter than summer?

If you do it right and there's no damage to your seals, you should only need to do it the once.

The problem of knocking is caused by worn bushes that hold the shaft within the shock's boot.

Due to the bushes wearing out there is lateral play of the shaft.

Filling up the slack with grease is only a workaround.

To correct the root cause of the problem you need to replace the worn bushes (they are very cheap) and you can get going for tens of thousands of miles.
