Default Bugeye WRX Shockers

Well my shockers had the dreaded rear knock, and also felt like i was on a boat not in a car lol

So i came across someone breaking a bug with loads of STi bits fitted and i got a set of red sti shockers with apex lowering springs which i fitted at the weekend, they came all built up so i just straight swapped them over, however the rear are making some strange noises and ive spoken to the seller and hes told me they never mad any noises when they were on his.... I do trust him so what im asking is:

I am sure i can remember the rear strut top mounts looking different like;

My original ones were round and these ones are more d-shaped...? But dont hold me to that because i have been to sleep since the weekend...

Should i have tried to swap my strut tops over?

Can anyone enlighten me on what may be the issue / to check

Thanks in advance

Hi there

Not sure, but think you will need to use yours existing top mounts on yours, just due on wagons are different top mounts like on saloon/sedans or you can go route use some sort of spacers or stops

On yours is rear end more lowered than front end?

I think its lowered the same all round to be honest, the only thing that makes me think I may need to use my strut top mounts is that I'm sure I remember these looking slightly different in shape,

But the car they came off was a saloon wrx with sti bits and mine is a wrx....? So I didn't think there would be a problem,

Strange.....

As long as you change the entire unit, they are all inter changeable. The only reason for differing top mounts is that the springs differ from model to model.

The STi strut uses a inverted damper, so that could also be knocking, but would sound slightly different to the WRX unit knocking.

There's a few posts on how to re-grease them here and on other sites.

Drop links can make a noise too, have you checked them?

Drop links have a little play in them but didnt notice this noise before changing,

I'm gonna try and re-grease them.
