Default Sti hatchback suspension

Hi

Just got a 2008 sti hatchback and want to lower it. I've been told you can't lower it on standard shocks more than 25mm??? I was hoping to get it a bit lower than that is Coilovers the only option?? Cheers

I have same car and I think mine has been lowered and also has nylon bushes. It is terrible on uneven tarmac, really unpleasant to drive. It rattles and clonks over cats eyes etc! I am going to replace with adjustable shocks which I think can be set to different ride heights. Look at scoobyworld or API engines. They seem to offer different setups from £700 to £1500. I wish I had bought one with standard kit. Neil

Hi and cheers for reply. I ended up buying a set of adjustable to and it's so much better to drive. Although it seems to have a distinct whine when you wellie it? I've had evo's and scoobys before and I know scoobys can sound Whiney but this is a high pitched whine and seems to be when the turbo kicks in? Car still pulls like a train but slightly concerned about the sound. Is yours similar or do I have an issue?? Cheers

The whine usually stops when the wife gets out.

I have an Sti hatchback 2008 with lowered springs on standard shocks. I want to go back to standard height original subaru springs. Let me know if you change yours. I'm not sure how much it has lowered the car as I didn't fit them in the first place. Neil
