Default 2005 WRX BLOBEYE SHOCKERS

I've a 2005 WRX saloon and the rear shockers are knocking. Genuine Subaru retail at about £340 each the V.A.T so i don't want to go down that route and i'm not keen on coilovers.
What aftermarket shockers has anyone fitted?

A bit of info, the 2005 model shocker set up changed i believe to a larger piston damping as on the STI models.

KYB offer WRX shockers from 2001/2004 but these are a thinner piston set up and STI again from 2001/2004 the correct size piston as mine but maybe a stiffer set up.

Has anyone fitted either of these and the car still handles ok?

I'm just about to go down Dave's route on an identical car - except it has Prodrive springs - and one thing that has come up is that that KYB struts don't come with bump stops. Subaru ones are very expensive (of course!) and KYB don't seem to do specific ones, so we are going to fit universal ones instead.

Thanks for the replys.

I dare say i'm not the best at mechanical jobs but the grease nipple modification could be an idea for my garage to do. I'm not sure about changing all 4 struts and springs as the fronts are fine. So any advice on what you think to just fitting rear KYB sti inverted struts and what would they be like? Does anyone think it would be too stiff and make the car out of balance with the front being still on the standard struts?

Good write ups by the way..

I fitted the Ultra SR's all round on my late blob (inverted strut type) about 3 months ago keeping the standard WRX springs, for me it's been a great improvement.

Cheapest price I could find at the time was £105 per corner delivered.

Front Right - part no. 321002

Front Left - part no. 321003

Rear Right - part no. 321004

I was under the impression that the part numbers for the blobeye WRX (not STi) 2005 onwards were as follows:

Parts for the front axle Part No Part 324032 Ultra SR 324033 Ultra SR

Parts for the rear axle Part No Part 324030 Ultra SR 324031 Ultra SR

So is this not right ? I even cross referenced this to KYB website and these are the part numbers it gave me ???

Had a massive email thread with "Subaru 4 You" about this the before I bought these shocks chassis numbers, applied model numbers and existing part numbers were checked . Easiest thing to do is go and get the part no off your front drivers side shock and check it matches this...

20312FE240

According to opposed forces it was used on WRXs from April '04 - July '05
link

If it does you'll need....

KYB 321002
KYB 321003
KYB 321004
KYB 321005

I already have the Eibach Pro-kit Lowering springs fitted, so a decent set of shocks would compliment the set up.
