Default knock/clunk

Tricky this one....for me anyway.

When reversing then braking, for example getting out a parking space, there's a HORRID clunk/crack/clang just as i soon as i brake. but when i pull off no noises. opinions?

second one is knocking from the rear over bumps - how do i check which part has given up the ghost?

Regards
Aaron

Could it not be your brake pads making the clunking noise? Mine do it.

Also, the knocking from the rear will probably be your rear shocks. This could also be the knocking when braking?!

What year car?

nah the reversing clunk definitly comes from the front and it aint brake pads - its horrible, from inside you'd be forgiven to think the wheels had fell off :-S

I had a simliar noise but it was the brakes! Turned out the clip type thing that hold the pads in was fitted in upside down allowing the pad to move more than it should, so everytime I would reverse and dabbed the brakes they would clunk......especially loud when parking in a multi-story!!
