Question '05 WRX Wagon Rear ARB

Hi,

I'm getting tempted to fit a rear ARB to my otherwise standard '05 WRX wagon. The wagons run different ARB's compared to the saloon I believe, so which would be the best upgrade for fast road use? It seems I can choose from -

22mm fixed
22mm adjustable
24mm adjustable

I would probably fit the droplinks too. I'm thinking of fitting the 24mm adjustable (just so I've got the ability to tweak) and running it on it's softest setting...

These adjustable bars - I presume (from what I am reading...) on the 24mm for example that 'soft' is 22mm, 'med' is 24mm and 'hard' is 26mm equivalent?

Thanks in advance

Are you planning on running a front ARB at some point? 24mm can be a bit much even in the softest setting with the OEM front bar. Depending on your rear camber, you can experience some severe lift throttle oversteer, even in the mildest setting, if you aren't attentive. Ideally you should match the 24 rear with at least a 22 front. It will be less tail happy, more balanced and you'll help to prevent dynamic neg camber loss up front (with the bigger front bar).

If you do decide to just get the 24 now, just be very mindful of the changes in dynamics of the car. Its a great way to get the rear into a bush or ditch.

I went for the 24 mm adjustable, set on middle setting. Still running the standard front, but about to upgrade to 22mm front. Other than being twitchy in the wet, its fine, with the option of going stiffer.
The rear ARB transforms the car. When you do it, you will think you are driving a different car. Do it. You won't regret it. Bob

Bob-I agree, the 24mm rear bar combined with the stock front bar makes the car rotate insanely! Very fun. But potentially a handful to someone not used to dealing with lift throttle oversteer. I'd rather err on the side of caution when dealing with ARB choices and setting recommendations. I've seen too many people over the years crash because of lift throttle oversteer in a Scoob (when going with the big rear bar).

Did the op sort your arb's out? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

I'm interested as I'm about to do the same, once I can find a rear arb for my Blobeye wagon ;-)

BSR33Z is the Whiteline PN for the wagon 22mm bar... all newage wagons use the same bar IIRC (as long as you have the C shape drop links?) so if there's not one listed for your car, try a different model year.
