Default Trackday coil overs > with or without upper mount adjustment?

I am looking at getting a new set of shocks for my 06 Spec C, I have already upped the power to 420/400 & have put AP 6 pots on the car. I have fitted Whiteline ARBs & ALK which has improved things slightly. However when on track I believe the suspension is now holding the car back from lapping a lot quicker (along with a spare set of wheels with grippy rubber )

I am looking at the AST kit that Litchfields offer, I am also looking at the Buddy Club Racing Spec Dampers. My car is used daily, so I am looking for suspenion that can be adjusted for road use, but also adjusted to suit the track.

The main difference I am pondering about is that the Buddy Club kit has upper mount adjutable camber control? I am thinking of fitting these with a set of D2 racing adjustable camber control arms.

There are 2 things that I am wandering

1. Will the difference of being able to adjust camber for the track make a big difference on track? (Lap times)

2. Are cars with aftermarket upper mounts a pig to drive on the road? (I here people moaning about knocking noises?)

I know that Litchfields have been using the AST kit for a long time with good results, but will the Buddy Club with camber control have a distinct advantage on track???

If anyone has experience on this subject I would appreciate your thoughts
Lee.

The D2 kit I am looking at fitting is listed below >

D2 Racing Motosport

D2 racing adjustable camber control arms
Fully adjustable control arms , allows accurate and precise camber adjustment.

D2 Racing adjustable tension rods
Sets castor angle accurately on the front suspension strut,D2 racing uses a high load spherical bearing that replaces the factory ultra soft rubber mounts.

D2 racing traction control arms
Fits S13,S14,S15,R32,R33 rear suspension set up. Replaces the standard factory set none adjustable part. Traction control will allow toe control over lowered suspension, another tyre saving benefit.

D2 Racing adjustable toe control arms.
Bring back that toe adjustment when lowering and making camber adjustments saves wear and tyre over heating issues.

If it was my car I would fit the AST coilovers. They worked well on the Type 25.
I have EXE-TC fast road and track coilovers fitted to mine and they work very well.
Any solid top mount will increase NVH.

Hi fella, what is "NVH"?

I am tempted with the AST's because they are a known product, but whilst doing trackdays you see race cars and virtually all of them have a lot of camber adjustment, I am just wandering how much of an advantage it is? I am assuming I could probably get top mounts to fit on the ASTs?

NVH = Noise, Vibration, Harshness.
Yes I believe you can get AST's with adjustable top mounts.
I am still running the standard STI top mounts on my EXE-TC's.
I think in order to be happy with your choice you need to be 100% honest with yourself as to the cars use.
If its just a track toy then fill your boots and get rose jointed everything with solid top mounts but if its mainly road use with some track days I would focus on a 'fast road' set up such as the AST's and accept the compromise on track.
