Newage WRX how low can you go
Hi all
Right I bought some fk coilovers for my wrx but before I fit them will I need anything else,
When I had my golf you could lower it 45mm just on coilovers but upto 60mm then you hade to put a whiteline anti roll bar on to stop it hitting the drive shaft then 80mm you had to put a notch in to stop the drive shaft hitting the leg
I'm looking to drop it around 50mm will I need any drop links etc
Thanks in advance

The general advice is 14" front and 13.5 rear height from wheel arch to middle of wheel. No where near a 50mm drop.

std sti height is 14.4 rear and 15.2" front wheel center to arch in the workshop manual.
Lowering to 14" front and 13.5 rear is what I have found to be ideal. Going really low on the front really screws up the geometry.

50mm drop on just springs works fine, I fitted the roll centre kit from whiteline to ensure the steering arms sat better, and I've also fitted adjustable top mounts at the front and arms at the rear so I can maintian decent geometry, and therefore handling

I'm no expert but 30mm max at the front for me.
I think the key is making sure that the lower arms of the front suspension do not go beyond level, unless you fit a roll center kit as JonMc has to adjust the geo.

I too am having a confused.com moment as I need to specify what ride height i want with new coilovers.
The front as it is now has a country mile gap between wheel and arch, so I think the lowering of the front must be greater than the rear.
I heard of some cars running 35mm drop on the front and 15 or 20mm on the rear. I think this will give the car a nice stance - but i want performance and reliablity (i.e. no worn out drive shafts).
I think the advice of the lower arms staying level sounds good but how to get this right until the car is on the ramp being tweaked?

I have had my BC coilovers fitted at SumoPower. They applied their usual setup which is 45mm drop at the front and 50mm drop at the back.
I am currently running 24 hard on front, 22 hard on back - but will get harder as I get used to it.
I have a front lip fitted and rear mud-flaps. I get no scrapes at all going over speed humps. Running 17in wheels.
Handling is awesome! But i do like low cars, having slammed my BMW and Civic beforehand.
