Any one driven a scoob on Ohlins Suspension?

Hi folks,
I am looking to buy another scoob shortly and one that I particularly like has Ohlins suspension fitted. I am unsure as to whether she is running standard springs or otherwise.
Any views on the quality etc of this kit most appreciated.

If it is the Group N coil-overs then you have more quality and strength than you'll ever need.
They are the best coil-overs this side of WRC/Gp.A stuff which no one will ever need for normal driving/track days.
They are easy to spot. The dampers are huge.

Ohlins are renowned to be the BEST suspension company in the world, I have no idea what the scoob suspension is but most F1 cars / Champ Cars, World SuperBikes, Gp Bikes all use Ohlins, I've had it on my race bike and its simply fantastic.

I've got a set off the struts on my 95WRX with Eibach springs. I actually find it a better ride than the standard setup although you do have to watch the road for pot holes. I sharpened up the steering and made such a difference to the handling. And I've never heard anything bad said about them. I don't know what model I've got but it could well be the GrpN although they are only hard/soft adjustable, no other adjustments!
I think they cost me around £700 second hand but the guy I got them from told me what they are new and I was a bit shocked, not cheap!

the ohlins on your car will not be sweden ohlins but japannese ohlins made buy carroozira in japan . they fail very soon after fitting in most cases the way to tell them is that they have standard platforms and not coilovers . steer well clear of theses units because if they fail you cannot get them repaired only in japan not even ohlins sweden can help you . i had them on my GTIR good while they lasted but DMS OR PROFLEX are a lot better regards . ps if they do fail you can put bilstien inserts in to them
yes but they're not worth the expenditure for normal road use. I bet you could barely notice a difference with a leda / bilstein / Koni etc on road performance. Ohlins are exeptionally well built and their purpose is to give a car racing the best reliability. In fact the difference from a good coilover and ohlins is that these last ones preserves more tyres and frictional parts of the suspension. These elements are the key for a succesful racing car.

Just to let you know...I am PERSONALLY working with Ohlins USA to have Them make GC8, GDA and GDD suspesions...We are test fitting next week...Some particulars...
*18 Way Double Adjustable (Rebound and Dampning) External Resovoir Optional ..
*36mm or 46mm piston ...
*Full Range Coilover using Ohlins patented PCV System
*Will be available with GRP N Topmounts or Adjustable Pillowball mounts....Solid mounts in the rear
*Price will be Very competitive with DMS, LEDA, and Bilstien...
*Spring Rates will be made for individual tastes...
*Most likly will have Brakes Bracket mounts
*FULLY Rebuildable..

Suspension is almost done...Now Ohlins has to send back to Sweden to get TUV approval...(not sure how long that takes)...But word is once is it approved...You guys(Europe) will get the same Deal...so its still progressing...S L O W L Y but still moving forward...

If you have a choice between a car with and one without Öhlins suspension, go for the one with them. Easy.
How "uncomfortable"
these dampers are for the road depends on two things:
- bump and rebound settings
- spring rates
Anything over 5 or 6 N/mm will make the car very hard. (I'm running 8 N/mm, but then again I dont give a **** about comfort. I'm having a roll cage welded into my car and the car seam welded as well
)
Anyway, if you want maximum efficiency from the suspension, you will need at least 5 N/mm springs and a good setup (bump and rebound and height wise).
Oh, and a lot of people seem to think that the lower the car, the better. That's only true to a certain extend, and wrong in most cases, especially with competition type suspension like Öhlins, Proflex, Dynamic etc. The damper is engineered to work with a certain range of travel. Lower the car too much and that travel distance has become to short for the damper to work correctly.
