Default 99 Forester s/turbo rear shocks help!

hi,
hoping for some advice on rear suspension for 99 forester 2.0 s/turbo. rear shocks on the way out, have sag on o/s rear. question is what are the best replacement shocks to fit at the most sensible price and where to get them from. at last mot it was noted that the o/s rear was leaking. has anyone had these replaced and are some other subaru models shocks compatible?

thanks for any help!

For best advice visit us at Europe - Subaru Forester Owners Forum

The s-turbo is self levelling suspension (lime green painted struts), so a leak will make it sag, the only source of self leveling parts new is Subaru and they are £500 EACH.

You could fit non self levelling using either parts from a breaker or using new KYB struts and srings or a mix of breaking/new parts. Car Parts and Car Accessories - Buy Parts By seel all you need (type in NA not turbo though!)
Or fit Impreza bits and lower the car by 2"!

Having said that you've never replied to any of your other Q's on here so probably just waisting my time?

Simon

thanks for your advice, not sure where to go with this as subaru oem parts sound way to exspensive! do you think best option is to replace with kyb struts of the website you recommended, would i be able to use the original coil springs or do i need a new pair to match new struts. on the website the coil springs for the rear can be with or without level control what is the best match to new struts. Also what other things need replacing if i change self levelling to new kyb suspension.

hope you can help me some as i am a bit lost at the mo and mot is looming!

sorry if i haven't replied to questions, am a bit of a novice at this.

p.s i have listed same original question on the forester.org euro forum.

thanks again.

You have to match spring and strut, so SLS strut with SLS spring (its too soft by itself needs the SLS assistance) or non SLS strut with non SLS spring.

Most people buy a pair of struts new and a pair of non sls springs from a breaker (search ebay for forester breaking, you'll find a few, just make sure you get non sls!), all the rest of what you need will be on your take off struts.

Try Pedders...they do a good range for the forester
