When driving over slight bumps in the road I get a knocking/tapping sound coming from the front off side wheel area. I've jacked up that wheel and checked for play in various components but can't find any. Is the noise more likely to be the drop link (of the rose jointed type), the strut or the bottom ball joint?

Now sorted, it was the o/s drop link, but replaced them both.

Bump, this noise has come back slowly over the past few months, I have noticed there is some play when grabbing the o/s/f wheel and forcing it the same way as if I turned the steering wheel right hand down, however, there is no play when forcing the wheel the other way. Any ideas? I am thinking either the wheel bearing or the wishbone bushes.
