Top mounts; how easy to replace?
I have a coilover kit on my car which used the original top mounts.
Recently, when jacking up up car, the wheels fell down. It seems my top mounts have split apart..
I've no idea how long they've been like that. Its just the weight of the car holding the suspension in place.
So obviously the top mounts will need replacing, I do most jobs on the car myself, but this is a job I've never tackled before. So is there anything I should or shouldn't do. Anything I need to look out for.
I'm not getting those fancy adjustable mounts, just the standard ones again.

Its a fairly easy job, a straight strut swap is about 20 minutes, swapping the top mounts involves compressing the springs, and then a quick swap, the problem is the top nut is a PITA to do as you need something to hold the top mount while you crack it off, normally I dod this on the car before removing the strut, but as yours are bust that probably won't help, so you'll probably need a vice to grip the mount (or remains of) to do it.
