KYB or Apex on Blobeye - Opinions
Yep - have got the dreaded knocking on the rear of my 2003 Blobeye and they have been confirmed as probably the worst that the guy has heard!!!
Have been offered KYBs on the rear for around £400 all in by the same guy - which seems pretty reasonable to me.
Also have just seen the group buy for a full set of Apex coilovers for about £500 if it is still running.
As the title says - anybody running either of the above - what are your thoughts? Cash is tight, so EXE TCs or ASTs are not an option!! May also consider Teins or anything else for around or under £600.
Thanx

Apex matey, i've got these on mine and there a great peice of kit and a lot of people run these now.
The only other thing i will add is Kyb is what is already on your car, which put me off due to them failing on newage cars even after being replaced!

Thanks for that - I didn't realise KYB are the standard fit dampers - so it stands to reason that they will probably fail again.
The Apex do look good value, particularly at the group buy price.

Does anyone know why they fail so much, it seems very common to me you would have thought scoob would have done something about it now!! how many miles did you get from the original shocks??????
Mine's a WRX, I put second hand Jap STi shocks on and they have probably done about 40K.
The guy who looked at them used to work for a dealer and he reckons they replaced around 500 units!!! Seems subaru are aware of the problem but never bothered with a re-call.
I think it's something to do with the angle the damper is fitted to the car that causes them to fail - loads of threads on here.
