Coilovers for a classic. Tell me more tell me more.
Right, next pay check pays for a new set of coilovers for my uk turbo. Basically, whats good and whats not.
I've seen the tein super street with edfc which looked good but does anyone have any experience of them?
Any other recommendations?
Also if anyone is selling coilovers of any sort let me know as i may well be interested.

I had tein super streets on my last type R, highly rate them, on the softest setting they are grand for day to day driving even with our guff roads, then you can stiffen them up as you wish.
Im planning a set of the apex coilovers for this type R i have now, could be worth a looky mate

Why do you want coilovers ?
i had a set on mine when it was imported, they were jap made ones, cant remmeber the make and my oh my it was such a hard ride, darlin, i changed them in th eend and fitted some showa pink shocks/springs, even these are hard but better
if you have kids/missus passengers of a jibbly state or even not, get used to people not coming out in your car as after the novelty wears off, coilovers are for the trackk or a car thats driven once a week not everyday fo rlong journeys

To be a pedant, you've got coilovers already, as in the coil is 'over' around' the strut.
Much over rated, many are just too stiff for realistic daily road use, even stock newage STi springs are circa 50% siffer than a Sierra Cosworth 4x4 was!

I had Leda's on my TypeR two cars back. fantastic on Road and Track.
The model of kit concerned was specially valved and sprung following much Impreza Research & Development from one of the tuners, but alas I dont think you can get them.
The only other Impreza specialist that has done any R&D on coilovers (that I know of) is Powerstation and the AST shocks. I had their T25 kit on my Newage, and that was also very good.

I have some brand new KYB's shocks and Eibach springs for sale on ebay if you are interested. Far nicer for everyday use in my opinion and on our roads much faster! Thats from experience by the way! The choice is yours though.

KW V3's on mine.
Simply fantastic and compliant on the road. I'd go as far as to say better ride quality than the standard STi Type R suspension.
But then it also gives much better control as well... winner in everyway!
But then I have been in coilover cars where the ride is awful so choice and setup is paramount to getting a good ride.

We have done plenty of R&D with Impreza coilovers.

Hope that helps. Anything firmer than this for a classic would be a mistake IMHO.
No such thing as a free lunch, with improved handling comes a stiffer ride; its about getting the balance right.
Tein is, I believe, the only manufacturer who offers in car damper adjustment via the EDFC. If you're going for an adjustable set up, it's the only way to go IMHO

just to add fuel to the fire...I got a set of inverted Apex coilovers from Bren and the guys....easy enough to fit (with the right tools)...damper is set at 5, and this seems fine for the roads around here, but i can go softer if my back gives in (incidentally, no sticker sheet in the box, so i cant advertise your company Bren..poor show indeed ) As has been said, coilovers are harder than standard shocks etc, but thats a small price to pay
