From the odd search result I got when I was looking into getting better shocks, it came up that the STi units were firmer in damping than the wrx struts.

As long as they are in good nick and lowish mileage, it sounds like you are onto a good thing.

Paired up with some good quality springs (Eibach/Whiteline to name a couple) you should have nice handling car after fitting it.

I nearly went for a second hand set myself, thing is the cost was high (I thought) for what I was getting. Opted in the end to save up for some new AGX adjustable shocks which aren't a lot more.

£70.....Deffo give it a go, just check for leaks around the piston and the rubber bushes where the rears mount.

Let us know how it fairs when you get it all fitted.

Of course at 13yo they could be completely FUBAR even if they aren't leaking!

If they are that old that is.

Obviously won't be the freshest of dampers about, but my car is around that age and the dampers work fine for me.

Like any second hand parts, you take a chance
