Anyone got a rear strut-brace for a 5DR????
#1
Got a UK 00MY 5Dr.
Has anyone got or seen a rear strut brace for a 5Dr? Does the Sti have one?
Need to know if they follow the line of the seat back or do they protrude into the boot area.
I`ve got a LARGE rotty, poor sod hardly fits in now, let alone with a metal bar taking his legs out!!!!!
Cheers

Yup
I've an alloy STi Rear S/brace & it very nicely tightens up the rear-end & acts as a very useful camera mount One of my best mods IMHO & it makes PTMW! a very useful beastie D
You cannot get the tonneau cover on (MY99) at all but seeing as you have something that probably goes above that, then NP
If you imagine that the tops of the s/brace are in line with the line of the mounts of the tonneau cover then a couple of inches below that is the brace itself. I don't believe that it intrudes too much into the "luggage space".
Do you not have a dog-guard? I would be slightly worried about 10+ stone of rotti flying from the back of the car if you were unfortunate enough to be in an accident

PTMW,
Cheers for the info.
Re dog guard - bought one, no way my Rotty was going in with it fitted. No room. So yes it does concern me, fortunatley my wife`s RAV4 is perfect so any journeys longer than 3-4miles he goes in there.
PS how much for the Brace?

STi Item quite expensive but very good and massive.
Try www.whiteline.com.au I bought one specially designed for a wagon for i think about GBP100. The cover thing fits OK and if u cut the plastic strut caps a bit they also fit. Its not as massive as the STi one but it really firmed the rear, back turns in better now, I agree 100% with PTMW a must for the wagon. Putting the tonneau cover also conceals it nicely as it is flashy shiny aluminium.
I also got from them: front brace Anti lift kit ,fr rr arb s all excellent fit or MY00 euro wagon i recommend them on those.

Keep in mind that the 4 door and 5 door strut braces are different, IIRC the 4 door brace will fit a 5 door but not the other way round.
Cheers

Edited to say - Puff did you get your brace from Skippy, if so that may explain why the cover doesn’t fit quite right, just a thought.
