Default Advice Please Donk Noise.. :-(

Hi all....

Just after some info really....

I have an 02 plate type UK STI and its now covered 74,000 miles...

when going slowly in reverse or slowly forward I get a loud donk noise from the susspension on the rear passenger side and it hasnow just started doing it on the front drivers side...

a couple of people have mentioned to me its either the top mounts or shocks that need replacing...

what do you guys think?

when going along at any given speed 30-70 you dont hear anything...

cheers

Andy

Hi Andy,

If it's any consolation I have the same car and exactly the same problem with only 40k miles !

The only other thought was that the brake pad was moving slightly inside the caliper when changing direction from forward to reverse and causing the "donk". However I've had the wheel off and couldn't find anything obvious with the brakes or driveshafts.

Sorry, not much help.........................

Cheers guys.....

Spoke to a few people about this...

only happens whegoing slowly forward or reverse... and turning left

when going above 20mph silent at all times... think it has to be the shocks and top mounts, some people are hving to change theirs ar 30k... mine has done well reaching 72k, so probably need doing!
