NEW SHOCKS UNDER WARRANTY
Just a quicke,
having new set of shocks fitted to my 05 sti on sat.
they are of course rear ones after diagnosing the fault for me on this site.
Spoke to me fellow colleagues at our other branch about it and as you said very common.
They told me they seize up due to hard suspension and no weight or people being carried in the back.????

Snap! Put my '05 WRX PPP in for a service last week. The engineers report stated excessive play in the rear shocks and quoted me £420+ labour to replace.
I phoned them yesterday to query it as the car's only done 18k - "you're right Sir, we'll sort it under warranty". RESULT, but I wonder why they didn't say it could be sorted under warranty at the time of the service or do you always have to do the chasing with Subaru?

I have a MY03 STI Type UK which i took in to the dealership as i had a knocking noise from the rear offside. They diagnosed the shock absorber having excessive play and said if you change one side the other should be changed also as it is likely to go soon or will put an uneven balance on the suspension. I was quoted just over £700 for parts, labour and VAT.
Asked about if the new shocks would stop the knwon issue and the dealership advised they have a higher pressure in the shock so should not be an issue in the furture...

05 WRX PPP with Prodrive springs - rear shocks being replaced tomorrow. Took the technician (mechanic) about 10 seconds to diagnose and said it was a common fault.

This seems to be happening a lot! Is it just an 05+ thing or is it something I can expect on my 04 WRX too?
Also is it happening only when the Prodrive springs are fitted or to standard ones as well?

I recently had my 05 STi rear shocks replaced due to creaking/knocking, but the dealer advised that the rear geometery wouldn't need reset. Is this correct? Also, is it only a matter of time before I get the same issue with the front shocks?

Correct for the rear, but not for the front.
