What whiteline products to buy?????
What whiteline parts will make the biggest improvement to a standard 04 STI other than eibachs & 19" wheels?
What would you buy as a first step to tighten the understeer and general feel.
Cheers

22mm front anti roll bar
24mm rear bar and links
ALK
Camber bolts all round
Good alignment by Power Station (who can supply all the above)
to really kill understeer you need adjustable top mounts too.
Whiteline products simply work, especially with a good alignment.

Hi sorry to jump in on the thread but I was about to post something similar. What is the cost onc fitting and benefits of the anti dive/roll kit. I'm doing some track time at the moment and I've done the top mounts and strut brace front and rear (still debating on the interior brace so any feedback)?

Its just I looked at the prices, and while I don't doubt their performance, I was hoping to do a couple of bits first and then progress.
Could I start with a couple of those? And If so, what would you suggest first?

OK:
Roll bars first as there is no need to re-align the car.
Car will be safe to do this step.
Set the rear bar at the soft hole (there are 3 holes to choose from on the rear bar.)
Drive easy at first, then build up.
You might then do to the middle hole and ease into it. The 'hard' hole will move you to oversteer of sorts (not MkII Escort stuff though)
Then do the alk/camber bolts/alignment and these changes by someone who really knows their way around an Impreza will move the car a few steps further.
Then you get to the serious stuff.....

I will just say that a rear 22mm Whiteline ARB and steel droplinks alone have made a massive difference to my '02 STI. I've also fitted the rear subframe locking bolts, and although initially I felt quite uncomfortable with the rear being quite lively with the locking bolts (in comparasion) - I have become accustomed to it fairly quickly.
These changes alone seem to have dialled out a massive amount of understeer that exsisted in the car as standard.

A demon tweek (in my experience) is to put the whole rear subframe in poly bushes, and throw all the rubber out.
This (with Whiteline lock bolts) utterly ties the rear down and stops rear wheel steering (read wandering) under power and braking.
There is a little more harshness but you will not notice it too much as you will be going faster...concentrate!
Follow the Whiteline product line and you will not go wrong.
The rear bar on it's own will make a big change to the confidence and poise of the car.
When you fully load the chassis with the right mods/alignment you will be amazed what the car (and you) can safely do.
A good chassis first, a good engine second! (and some good brakes if you are the nervous type )
