Default Rear Anti Rollbar Mount Torn Out

During a track day at the weekend one of the rear ARB mounts was ripped clean out of the chassis on my MY01 bug eye.

Now whilst its relatively easy to repair, I was wondering if anyone had come across this before? Somebody had mentioned to me to check the rear diff mounts as lateral movement of the diff could have caused this to happen.

Does this sound plausable?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

IMHO:
No.
The mounts are a bit flimsy, and Whiteline warn you about this on their site under high load conditions.
They sell stiffened units, but i welded a 2mm thick steel web into the 'U' shape of the mounting 3 years ago and all is well with a 24mm bar in place.

Thanks 911, on further inspection the bracket has actually snapped where the rear bolt holds it in, its the front bolt that appears to have been pulled out of the chassis....

The fronts are very weak with uprated bars. I have 22mm front and all is ok, but for the 24mm front there is a special Whiteline mounting with 2 bolts, not a bent tab and bolt (iirc)

It is very rare to hear about this problem, so bad luck!

(you havn't been off track onto the slippy green stuff have you )?

nah, but we were using the kerbs a little ok a lot... That's proabbly the cause and we also had proper tarmac racers on, so the stress on the ARB would probably have been quite high....

I purchased an ex Palmersport track MY2000 turbo car at 2 yrs old, and that was the 1st thing to break on mine (nearside). The dealer had never heard of it before. So hard use appears a likely cause!
