Default Whiteline Drop Links Problem

Did not want to hijack wrxpablos thread but he reminded me I needed to ask about this.

I have these droplinks fitted to the front of my WRX, I have done a track day and some road miles on them and yesterday I was under the car for something completely unrelated when I noticed the bottom bolts looked bent. They were fitted as per the instructions supplied with the correct tools.

Please have a look at the pics and tell me if I am imagining it

Has anyone else experienced this?
I am now worried to drive the car for fear of what would happen if one should snap. Unfortunately I am unable to re-fit the standard ones as I no longer have them.

What should I do? should I not worry about it? is it my eyes that are squint?

Oh I realise its not 90 deg but they deffo look bent to me.

Admittedly it is hard to tell in these little pics but I dont know how to post little ones to click on for the full size image to open. I am sure I can see a bend in the full size pics

Also noticed when fitting the fronts today that the hole is larger than the bolt that goes on the wishbone. This would also allow it to move at a weird angle and look a bit bent.

was the car up on ramps or suspended on jacks..?

If the wheels were hanging (unloaded) then this will stretch the bushes, hence why arb's & dl's should be fitted with the wheels on the ground/ramps..

There is no problem if they snap, I have lost two now and apart from a big boing from the rear of the car and decreased ARB effect all was well. My problem was the bolts snapping, not the actual link going and neither was a Whiteline.

This is about the FRONT links?

The Sti links are steel and i have raced on them for 5 years with no failures and a 22mm bar.
I now have adjustable rose jointed links from Whiteline so the car can be corner weighted right, but for a road car the Sti links are perfectly good.

The rears have plastic, be it P1/WRX/Sti/RA and there is a benefit to changing them to Whiteline products.

Yes Graham these are the front ones
Do you know if the STi links fit the WRX? or are they totally different?

Doubt they will fit.
The Sti are alloy arms and have one large tab cast in them to take the drop link shouldered bolt. The WRX have steel fabricated arms and the mounting is similar to the rear transverse track arm mounting.

not neccasarilly the wrx jdm imports of 95 era have alloy front wishbones as per the sti`s,
it`s only the uk spec cars that are cheap crapy pressed steel efforts as a cost saving practise when uk were produced .
and in any case the he has got alloy wishbones juding by pics!
tbh m8 i would have left the originals on as these were steel rose jointed rods anyways, again on the uk i believe they were plastic/abs on fronts as well but would have to check on that!

The Whiteline ones just don't line up correctly on STi wishbones, alloy or steel (as fitted to STi wagons). The ones above are P1 I believe and they do the job perfectly as do the Whiteline ball jointed version.

as I said before these are the ones I took off my WRX, now clearly the wrong thing to do, now I have to spend another 50 odd quid getting new standard ones, wish I had never changed them now

Camskill have them for £53 plus postage
