Front Anti Roll Bar bushes

Can any one tell me if there is a specific way to install new bushes?
I have fitted to a 97 sti and it just doesnt feel right.

I've tried them both way, the split to the front and to the rear and cannot feel any difference at all.
I install mine split to the rear of the car now.
