Default Advice on suspension mods

I am looking to add some, possibly all of the following, in the near future........(newage sti).

Front and rear adjustable arb's
Front and rear uprated drop links
Tein S-Tec springs

I am unsure which to buy first as I can't afford all the parts in one go and after adding some of the mods I may decide the others are not needed.

I am certain I want to fit the springs but unsure on the arb's and d/links.

What would I see the most benefit from and should the front/rear be modded first or at the same time (bearing in mind finances) and obviously not wanting to upset the balance of the car.

The bars will contribute the most.
The cost of the springs should be spent on a VERY good alignment job Bob, ie at Power Station.

I would SAVE SAVE SAVE tillyou have the £££ for all the kit and get it all done.

I do promise you that you will NOT be dissapointed.
Well worth the wait!

Bob, had the rear adjustable arb, front and rear drop links, front strut brace and prodrive springs(with prodrive geometry) fitted to my STi. Handles alot better , feels more sure footed, better turn in. well pleased with it. i prefer the prodrive springs to the tien as the drop is not as drastic.

As I stated earlier I cannot afford all the parts in one go and saving is not an option when you have a missus like mine

Is it beneficial to fit just the rear uprated arb and not the front one, or will they both need doing.

Unless you're fitting yourself, would defo get the lot done in a oner, save you a lot of cash. Don't know if DL's on blobs are metal or crappy ones like classics, if so then if you fit ARB, surely DL's will distort loads still nulling any benefit.

On a classic i went for anti-lift kit, front rear alloy DL's and ARB, along with eibach springs
Springs were actually higher than OE set up, but much more progressive.

I'd recommend Powerstation for handling set-up, i did 1st go to another 'tuner', but wasn't impressed and eventually went for a track set up at PS, awesome.

bob i did mine in stages too did prodrive springs first made a difference compared to standard. i then did the rear 22mm arb with solid drop links this made the biggest difference then did front 22mm arb and solid drop links not such a big difference.
i had the geometry done after this which if i'm honnest in my case made hardly any difference.

also on my car have front and rear strut braces these are worth having.

but if i was doing it again i would get them in order below
1. rear arb and solid drop links
2. springs and geometry done at same time
3. front arb and solid drop links should you want them

hope this helps

Rear ARB and solid drop links first if you are on a budget.

I did the geometry first, then the Prodrive springs, then have recently bought a rear adjustable ARB and steel drop-links. I am now debating whether to get the upgraded front ARB and drop-links too. I think it's quite nice to do it in stages though, as you feel more of the benefit from each stage.

Will there be much further benefit from the upgrading the front ARB though, I wonder?

Hey guys,

I was about to get prodrive springs and then I believe my rear nearside shock has went.

So I find myself considering the entire suspension setup on my 2002 STI Type UK. Don't know whether to get the shocks replaced with sub ones again and add the prodrive springs at the same time or to go for fully aftermarket coilovers.

Could somebody please explain (in layman terms) what these items are and what they do:
  • ARB
  • Drop links

Thks
