Depending what car you had before it can feel that way. I got my scooby brand new and it was my first scooby. It felt aas if the suspension had no give and took quite a while to get used to it and build up the speeds. Last year I fitted Tein Flex coilovers all round as to me the suspension seemed to be getting soft. So take it easy and learn it and primarily ENJOY it. Steve

Not sure of changes between 03 and 05, but I test drove two 05 UK STis with stock suspension back-to-back with a JDM 05 STi with AST adjustable suspension. It was chalk and cheese!
The UK STi was hard, jittery and felt unstable, whereas the AST was hard, yes, but very much more controlled. It takes bumps really well, and there's no roll whatsoever (I also have whiteline ALK and replacement ARBs). Guess which I bought
I have only had it a month, but it astonishes me how composed it is on all sorts of roads. It is just so confidence inspiring.
Having read all sorts of "complaints" about the std STi suspension, I think it might be time to start saving and get yourself some uprated/improved suspension!
YMMV

Fully fitted by PowerStation, 22mm ARBs front and rear, AST coilovers all round and the ALK/Castor kit was the wrong side of £1500, 18 months ago.

You probably only need stage 2 from Powerstation for normal fast road use. I've had it done and it works wonders also one of the best upgrades I've had is to use 'noisekiller' do a search on here for stopping noise. Now you might think "I didn't mention anything about noise" and you didn't but what this pack does is also reduce vibration so you feel a lot less coming through the floor. At c£230 I really, really recommend getting a subaru kit from them.

another vote for the AST set-up - softer than the car was when standard yet has more grip and hadles much better too. If you plan on keeping the car for a while it really is worth the investment
