Coilovers
Hate the hard ride, cant afford just yet some other setup,so is it easy enough to lower the compression of the springs, i see they are wound up to about half way up the thread,if i undo them all so they are not prtensioned will this soften the ride enough >?
i take it i need a C SPanner, 2" type ?>

What coilovers u got??
Raising the ride height will help a lot, i have tein superstreets sitting pretty low and set too 1 click from soft, on a nice road they are amazin but here in the town it really pisses me off sometimes cos i have to go everywhere at 2mph or hit pot holes everywhere...

Rig:
No.
The harsh ride of the Jap systems (Tein etc) are due to extreme damping which you can't get rid of even on max soft setting (JJ's comment)
The only way out is to change them to something far more suited to UK roads, ie AST One way with 50/40 spring rates.
I assure you that will work. (been there etc)
