Default How long would it take...

Pop quiz for the suspension forum, among the many learned individuals here, how many hours of labour, approximately, would you think a very reputable firm (not the forum sponsor, I hasten to add) would need for the following chunk of work:

- Fit coilovers and top mounts
- Fit rear ARB, brackets & F/R drop links
- Fit camber bolts
- Geometry
- Fit and bleed front AP brakes

Go on, what's your guess? Nearest to the bullseye gets a virtual chocolate mouse.

4 hours to fit all the bits plus an hour to do the geometry.

Yes that's what I would have thought.

Imagine my surprise when I was presented with a bill for over 30 hours of labour!

Oh, 5-6 hours for the coilovers, couple of hours for a roll bar, couple of hours for drop links, couple of hours to bleed brakes, 4 hours to fit brakes, couple of hours geometry (plus geometry cost, dunno what that means, I though would just be labour charge), couple more hours for this, couple more hours for that.

I am deeply disappointed. The firm in question are probably top 10 in terms of reputation, always loads of good references on the suppliers forum.

How long did they actually have your car? If they only had it one day then that's all they can charge you.

They had the car a while, a few weeks.

But despite how long they had the car, I want to make it clear that nothing was done to it other than those jobs listed above.

Plus, I think the coilovers were shrink wrapped products, not hewn from a solid piece of steel by one of their engineers armed only with a small file.

Astonishing!

All that lot would take 6 to 9 hours at a steady pace. (especially with a ramp)
Tweenierob would do it in about 32.4 minutes based on his reputation here...

A reasonable days work to get the job spot-on by a good outfit like the Sponsor(!)

Crazy: Good luck sorting it out.

Oh my god!!! - 30 hours!
I arrived at Powerstation last Friday afternoon at 1.30.
By 5.00 my car was remapped, had rear droplinks fitted, had front anti-lift kit fitted and the geometry was laser aligned and reset to their special settings!!!
As you can imagine - I was a happy bunny and had a very entertaining 80 mile drive home!!
Cheers!

That's ridiculous! I'm no mechanic, but, with no prior experience, I exchanged the rear bar AND droplinks in under an hour. The front drop links took about 30 minutes. I had an after market suspension kit fitted by a local shop in 4 hours.
