In a Pickle now
I want to lower my car and was looking at Tein springs which lower the car by roughly 30mm. I just measured the gap between the arch and the wheel and ive only got 20mm before the tyre goes inside the wheel arch. This would be ok i guess but ive got Ultralite wheels which tend to stick out a bit. Any suggestions? I need to lose 15mm front and 20 mm rear really presuming the Sti Pink springs arent already lowered.

You can do some checking here.
Assemble you suspension without the springs, jack the suspension through the full travel from full droop to full compresion. Turn the sterring from lock to lock and see if the tyres scrub anywhere.

One question that I have is how are the springs measured for drop ?
You mention 30mm Si but is that drop originaly based next to a standard spring say on a base model ? a GL shall we call it... I have ordered H&R myself they say it's a 50mm drop.... my question is where is the benchmark measurment made from ?? yours may already be dropped shall we say 20mm as an example on your sti srings already... so you may only get a 10mm drop with Tein ??
Is there anyone out there that can clarify this ??

You need to be sure of several things here:
It is too easy to lower far too far.
Too much looks good and the car corns badly, even bottoms out etc = crash potential.
If you have 17's on the car, a simple rule to get you started:
The lowest to reasonably go is when the rimm is at the same position as the swage lines in the front wing. Set the rear with the car front set, and keep the body level, so setting the rear ride height.
Take a look at these pics, the car is set as I've described on 17's
Other pics are the same car set-up on 16's.
