Default Suspension Interchangeability

General questions:

Do aftermarket shocks, adjustable spring seat type, fit all flavours of Scooby? Not bothered about spring rates or shock dynamics just the physical mounting details.

I know the STi's since MY02 have been fitted with upside down struts rather than the normal design fitted to new age WRX's. Did this change mean a change in the mounting details (method, diameter etc) into the stub axle / upright bit? What about the top mounts?

Rears the same (not the same as the fronts, I mean do the same questions apply to the rears)?

What about new age from classics? Have the details of the struts changed? In other words could you buy a set of aftermarket shocks from say a classic and fit it to a new age STi?

The basic answer is no, not all struts are the same. There is basic interchangability on all cars up to 00MY but the later cars have different struts for 4 and 5 door and the top mounts are different 01/02MY to 03/04MY. 05MY STi is different again.
