Default Group N 5speed transmission mount...

May be not exactly related to suspension mods but as it helps also in cornering ability I think worth to give you my opinion on this.
Yesterday installed on of the above mounts to my WRX03 and the difference is amazing!
Previously changing gears on corners and rough surfaces was at least difficult due to gearbox movement and felt that can't do it without push hard my gearbox especially on downshifts (QUICK changes), now my gearbox feels like butter, when you go to next gear it really goes at once and protects yourself from any damage not to mention gearchange time is almost half in some cases!
Even at small speeds gear change is more accurate and the overall feeling is more solid - if you know what I mean - same feeling when you change your suspension with an uprated one or add strut upper/under braces!
Go for it, you won't believe how much difference 20 mins of your time(if you have ramp) and a small part does!
JIM

Only downside some insignificant noise/"shaking" from the engine at idle

From USA of course mate, various STI dealers, I prefer Gruppe-S, Rallispec and Racecomp Engineering but this is personal choice, total cost 55 dollars plus shipping (no taxes at all for this amount) and 20 mins of your time!
In your case add also engine-pitch stop mounts, I believe they are legal in your class, or aren't they?

Thanks Jim, any mod like this is allowed as long as the chassis pick-up points are not moved.
I was thinking of the engine mounts as well as the box/top locator.

Thanks for the info.

Graham.

What a good idea!
I took a look at the Gruppe s site.

Is the mounting they call 'STi' just that or an upgrade on the stock Sti I wonder.

Chrome had a pain of a time dealing with them in the USA, but the $ is so useful just now!

Are you willing to do it Dyney?

Graham.

ST4100055200 is the correct part number Graham, ask to speak with Max, they have two employees less last month so it's difficult to deal currently, better to call them IMHO!

I'm in for uprated engine/gearbox mounts (depending on total cost)
Might know someone else interested in the gearbox mount at least.

Don't have to use Gruppe s, loads of places do them!!
Try Simon at STIracing (he supplied the STI pedal GB)

recently i 'bumped' into a Scooby supplier site that had (i think) Cusco engine/box/stabiliser kits in very stiff mountings.

Any ideas?

Graham

The ones I saw were custom made with poly bushes in them, just like suspension bushes use.

Tempted to do a Project thread on making some!
Anyone got any OLD engine/box/stabiliser mounts they dont want as 'patterns'?

Graham.

Jon, are you willing to send me the fronts and rear mountings, one off each?
I'll send you some $$
I've sent you my email address or use my pm.

I want to use the steel plates/studs etc and splice the 'solids' in between. Must be Impreza classic of course!

Takes me back to my Street Rod days
