How to fit springs on Classic 1995 WRX?
#2
You need spring clamps to compress the springs when you undo the top nut, if not the top mounts will ping off and take the last bit of thread with it, also getting the new ones on will be almost impossible without spring clamps.
The fronts are easy three nuts (12mm I think) on the shock turret and two at the base of the strut (17mm - these will be TIGHT!!)
The rears are a little more difficult, you need to take out the rear seat and back rest to be able to reach the nuts that hole the top mount in. I found that if you unscrew the seatbelt holder you can get to the nuts more easily.
The torque levels for nipping up the nuts can be found on www.ravensblade-impreza.com under technical documnets - Front Suspension: Exploded View With Torque Specifications

You might find you'll need to take the brake pipe off the caliper to get the strut off
I changed the springs on my 93 wrx and had to re bleed the entire system as each brake pipe goes through a mounting hole on each strut. I believe the newer (post97?) scoobs have a slightly different setup.
Better get some brake fluid and a mate on stand by
